Its so crazy how things get twisted around. I was the one who said that i stayed ahead of a charger hemi on the HIGHWAY. Never a mention of any racing from a stop. That would be dumb because the LS is lousy against a proper high performance car. Maybe a step by step will help explain things. There is a toll road here in Orlando and there might be about 1 mile between you and the next guy, very wide open highway. I was looking in my rearview mirror and see an all-black car approaching quickly. So i slowed down to about 70-75 mph. Once he got closer, about 1/4-1/2 mile away i noticed it was a Charger with the hood scoop and all that jazz. He may have been going about 90 mph to my 75 mph. Once he got a little closer i gunned it a little to keep a distance ahead. It was obvious that he pressed the pedal a little harder too and starting closing in, at that time i accelerated and stayed an even distance ahead all the way up to 110 mph where we both backed off, him first of course. Keep in mind we are the only two cars for miles in either direction on this toll road, if a cop was around a corner we'd both be dead. But it was fun. All i can say is with us both playing cat and mouse up to 110ish mph he was never able to run me down. I used to have a fomula that showed how fast you would have to go to catch another car going a specific speed, ie. a cop would have to go 90 mph to catch a car going 75 mph that is a 1/2 mile ahead. At such a high speed i dont care if it was a hemi he wasnt able to catch me. We could have both gunned it till our speed governer kicked in and he still wouldnt have caught me. So that brings up the question, was the Charger racing? Well he appeared out of nowhere and was cruising at about 90 mph. Once he got near me and i sped off he definately played along. Most people who pay the money for a high performance car drive it accordingly. Maybe i hurt his mopar ego. Doesnt matter, but thats how it happened.
