Exactly. Just like I said. Everybody's loyal to something. Few if any people are completely neutral about "everything".

Loyal yes, but loyal does not mean other is wrong.(or junk) Everyone has pride in there choices just have respect for others choices.

However, I must be honest. There are "some" GM products that I would consider. For example, 1987 Buick Grand National GNX, 1967 Corvair Monza, 1957 Bel Air, 1970 Buick GSX, any Pontiac GTO, 1963 Pontiac Grand Prix, and a few others. I like the classic 1960's Buicks and Pontiacs. Anything after 1971 is pretty much crap, though.

See????:D
And the Turbo TA. They where wicked fast back in the day.
Oh yeah sorry about that one! Totally forgot it!

What's up with the failing quotes? :D

In the 80's GM > Ford.
Mustangs looked like Ford Escorts. Only decent 80's Ford is the Fox Thunderbird (ofc only because I have one :D)

Hey Dude those are fighting words!!! Put up your dukes for my 1984 Mustang.:D I did have a 85 and 88 Thunderbid Turbo Coupes. Loved them.

But really, compare the Fox Mustangs to the Cougars/Thunderbirds. The Cougars and Thunderbirds actually looked like american cars! The Mustangs was just an Escort with a horse on it! :D
I have a 1988 Thunderbird undergoing full restoration (pics can be found here http://www.garaget.org/?car=159087) and also my father has a 1988 Ford Thunderbird with 347 stroker (can be found here http://www.garaget.org/?car=247957). Love those cars!
But Mustang has never come up to Thunderbird when it comes to quality. Me and my fathers Thunderbirds has lots better quality in the interior than for example my dads Cobra (http://www.garaget.org/?car=183155) which rattles like a pea in a tin can in the interior!

Damn thinking of it we might have Swedens most awesome car collection :D Must gather up our american cast iron cars and take pictures of them all together!

The birds are a "little" more deluxe. I'm waiting as we speak to hear from my friend that is going to the track for first time with his just painted 88 TC with alum headed 351 in it. Can't wait to see it and take pics. My 2cents I can't handle the chrome bird nose need the TC nose.

Great! I repainted mine with the original color although the color wasn't even close to the same as the original color! The original was a dark red with some purple tone in it. This is cherry red with lots of pearl in it! But I simply just love it!
The T-birds are more deluxe yes they are. But comparing Mustang/Lincoln MK Vii/Cougar and Thunderbird the T-bird is the greatest looking car of them all in my opinion. Then comes the Mark Vii, after that the Cougar and last Mustang :p

Does this look like a Escort?

My 84 parked right behind my 90LX conv.

I think they do. The Fox Mustangs are too anonymous for wearing the Mustang badge they do. They are cool cars no doubt, but should've been more Mustang-ish over them. But I think pretty much the whole world disagrees with me when looking at how popular the Fox Mustangs are.
But everyone has different tastes! Just like some people loves GM and hates Ford and other way around.

Btw: That Mustang looks mean! What do you have in it?

Loyal yes, but loyal does not mean other is wrong.(or junk) Everyone has pride in there choices just have respect for others choices.

I think GM is junk:D;) But that's my opinion as a die hard Ford gearhead. Your mileage may vary.

Oh yeah!! I forgot about those. I actually have a 1:20 scale Lindberg model of a Typhoon sitting on my shelf at home. They were pretty awesome. Turbo 4.3L V-6 with what, 250hp or something? I can't remember exactly. Either way they were fast as heck!

Oh yeah sorry about that one! Totally forgot it!

I don't know. That was strange.

In the 80's GM > Ford.

Maybe in some ways. GM did have a couple of decent vehicles in the 80's. But GM's quality and styling couldn't match Ford's. I still like to sit out on the porch at nignt and listen to the neighbor's old chebby truck rust:D

Mustangs looked like Ford Escorts.

On this I must vehemently disagree. How can you say that? The Escort was short and stubby with obviously FWD proportions. The only 80's or 90's Escort that looked decent was the RS Cosworth. And that was only because it was built on the RWD/4WD Ford Sierra platform with a longitudinal engine that gave it more RWD proportions. But the 'Stang looked nothing like the 'Scort. Especially the convertibles and notchbacks. Since they never made an Escort convertible (in the States) or coupe.

Only decent 80's Ford is the Fox Thunderbird (ofc only because I have one :D)

That I must agree with. I've had an '87 and '88 Thunderbird Turbo Coupe. Both were 5-speeds and both had fully functional Automatic Ride Control suspensions. The '88 was black and the '87 was grey. Both had black/grey cloth interiors. They were fantastic cars. With the suspension in "Auto", they rode like Lincolns. Flick the switch to "Firm" and they turned into corner carvers from hell! And they were a thousand times quieter and tighter and better built than any other Fox Ford except maybe the Continental and Mark VII. I really wish I could get mine back.

thaywood: I think the SyTy's had more up to 280hp in those turbo 6's!
And I think the Mustang resembles Escort way too much (especially interior wise) for being a Mustang. But as I said, just my opinion. The whole world disagrees with me when you look at how popular they are.

Automatic Ride Control suspensions? On a Thunderbird?
How did you get that? None of either my fathers SC or my LX has that! Is that even original? Never heard of it. But they are comfortable cars! My fathers SC is very stiff in the suspension but you can drive for ages without getting any pain in either your butt or back. The seats are just absolutley comfortable! If you compare to his Terminator Cobra the Cobra is softer in the suspension than the T-bird but the seats in the Cobra cannot be compared to the T-bird. Long trips = T-bird every day of the week! Even though it's ALOT louder :D Earplugs is your best friend :)

You've never heard of Automatic Ride Control? It was standard on all '87 and '88 Turbo Coupes and all '89-'95 Super Coupes as well as the '89-'91 Cougar XR-7. It was not an option on base or LX T-Birds or Cougars or any other Ford product. Basically it was an adjustable suspension system with two-position shocks that had electronic solenoids on top that were controlled by a switch on the dash. In "Auto" mode, sensors on the steering column, speedometer, brake pedal, turbo, and a yaw sensor in the trunk determined when the driver was being "aggressive" and switched to "Firm" to improve handling. The driver could override auto mode by selecting the "Firm" position which would cause a little green light on the instrument cluster to light up indicating that the car is in Firm only mode. The system worked the same way on all TC's and SC's as well as the '89-'91 Cougar XR-7. That suspension system was one of the many reasons the '87 Turbo Coupe was Motor Trend's Car Of The Year.

yep. its on dad's 89 XR7. cool system.
93- early 94 marks had a similar rear system. i have the solenoids chilling in my trunk cuz i put in bilsteins.
when i pressed hard on the brake i would hear them clunk back there.

Yep. And some FWD Connies had a similar system that was completely automatic with no driver control. I prefer the selector switch myself. On my TC's you could literally feel the difference in shock stiffness between firm and soft. It was like going from a fluffy Lincoln to a horse and buggy! In firm mode, that car would tear the twisty backroads up! I loved it!!

Learning something new every day!
I definetly wonder why the LX did not have it. It wasn't the sport version of the T-bird but being the most luxurious one it should've had it!
That's really cool! But it was really fancy when it was brand new and the question is now, does it work today on these 23 years old cars? :D

Didn't you know the ell es jaun was given to GM fanboys by the hand of god to crush the fords forever?

ya'll know I'm kidden ;)

The Turbo Coupe was Ford's tour de force technology flagship in the late 80's. If it was high tech, it was on the TC. The '87 TC was the world's first car to have turbocharging, intercooling, EFI, 4-wheel ABS Disc brakes, and electronic adjustable ride control all standard on one vehicle. And if you can find a set of the auto ride shocks and struts now, they should still work. I've seen a few TC's that still have functional auto ride recently. But they're getting more rare all the time.
