Tried searching no luck. Any idea on just how many lse's produced thru entire run ? It'd be interesting to know.

If you google helms it is a Ford and Lincoln affiliated site. Fill out some online forms and you can get your own build sheet for your car. Here is the link for you below:

I did this on my Continental. Deluxe build sheets are $48.00 USD It decodes your vin #, where the car was built, all the options, including how many units were produced. I don't know for sure if it will tell you how many LSE's were built but will tell you total production LS's were built for your year.

Ok that's total production. So what can we assume % of LSE is ? 5%, 10% of total production for LSE years ?

The '99 production really should be counted with the '00 as they were still MY 2000.

Oh....... MUCH less.... Maybe 1% or less.

So is the '02 lse the rarest or did they make the most that year ?

Ive heard the 1st gen lse is more rare than 2nd gen ( ? )

Wikipedia reports year of manufacture a lot of times and not model year. I'm surprised they don't list production numbers for 1983 Corvette's (there were none).

Doubt it. The only 2nd gen LSE's I've seen are the 1st '04 at a Michigan dealer and the introduction poster I have in our spare bedroom. I've never seen one on the street.

I've seen 1 gen2 LSE. It was an 05. I've seen many gen 1 LSE's. But since there is little difference between the 04 & 05LSE and every 06 LS, the perception would be the the 02 LSE is the rarest. They only made that body style for 1 model year, the gen 2 LSE was essentially made for 3 years.

I've seen several Gen 2s but not a single Gen 1 LSE in person.

It would be interesting to know exactly how many of each year were made.

When I was searching for my LSE, there wen't many available out there and I had to travel 3 states (390 miles) to get the one I bought. At the time it seemed like there were more available for sale over on the east coast compared to anywhere else.

A good friend of mine has a black '02 LSE that he purchased new. He rarely drives it and it's more of a toy for him. Currently it only has about 19k miles on it.

I know of one more 2nd gen. LSE locally but not sure if it is an '04 or '05. Is there a way to tell without looking at the VIN?

I live in a small town of less than 3,300 people and there are three LSE's in less than an 6 mile radius.

not that I know of, they are essentially the exact same car.

also it should be noted, there are probably more than a few fake LSEs out there, it seems that more and more base or sport LSs getting the LSE treatment (well a lot less of late...)

Didn't the 02 LSE have the most distinguishing features of the run ? (Bumpers, wheels, grille, skirts, tails, plate surround)

Seems like an awfully expensive way to clone a car

well back in the day, you were talking a few hundred dollars per part for your $30k-$40 car...

quite a different landscape from today where you are talking about buying one of the few remaining $1000 bumpers for a $2500-$5000 car.

well 2nd gen LSE have the same amount different parts. I guess it would be an obvious difference for an 02 because it looks different, and the 2nd gen was made for more years (and then arguably all of the LS made the last year shared those one time exclusive parts)

I think the Gen 1 LSE is more distinguishable because I think it looks awkward.

Awkward ? How so ? Is there really that much difference in aesthetics ? I like the 1st gen tails much better & LSE bumper is what makes or breaks the 1st gen. IMO, the front end on either gen with standard bumper is just ok but slap an lse or sport bumper on it and it's suddenly hell yeah !

i think its the side skirts, they kinda stick out a little bit depending on the angle you look at them, unlike the 2nd gen where it is just flat.

To me the 2nd gen skirts look odd the way they blend into car & that cut out doesn't look right. I'm a 1st gen guy

GEN 1 is going to be more rare. It was only made for one year where as the GEN 2 was made for 3 years. Simple mathematics. I think the GEN 1 is more appealing.

It would be simple mathematics only if they had a set number of LSEs produced each year and it never changed. Without facts, it's only a probability. Come on, you worked in insurance! Is it a fact that driving for 2 years means you'll get in twice as many accidents? Or is it just more probable?

Take this as my opinion, obviously. The skirts and rear valence just look like cheap aftermarket glue-ons IMO. The 2nd Gen has a nicer, cleaner rear bumper with exhaust cutouts sitting a bit higher. The Gen 1 LSE valence gives the car a low-butt look, almost diaper-butt look. As for the front Gen 1 LSE bumper, the inset part around the foglights make the mouth of the lower grille opening look like it's got puffy fish lips. The marker lights also stand out way too much, but that could just be Gen-2 LSE brainwashing, since I barely notice them on my own Gen 1 Sport.

But I'm sitting here without an LSE.

Careful, thems fightin words haha. But seriously, I guess I'm just gen 1 lse homer. I just think they got it right looks wise
