Anyone know where to purchase a Cat back system for an 02' V8, that isn't priced $700 plus?

Thanks

Buy the mufflers and have a shop bend and weld some piping. Cheaper than buying the kit.

+1, I think Lou (QuikLS) did his for somewhere around $400 bucks. This way you can get the sound you want to achieve rather than a prefabricated sound.

What mufflers would you suggest? I dont want it loud, just something over stock.......the mag system seemed relatively quiet......

Well Magnaflow is a tad louder than stock. Honestly I think it depends on the cats and resonators mostly, but I'm no expert.

I got mine BRAND NEW off ebay for 558 bucks with free shipping. By far the best deals I can find for the kit is on ebay.

For the last time, you cannot compare a bigger V8 to the LS' small V8 in terms of mufflers and sound. Two completely different animals.

That said, I like my Bassani mufflers with AeroTurbine resonators way more than the Magnaflow set-up I had.

I still want LOUS street legal mufflers for my LS...the Magnaflows just aren't loud unless you only traveling in the city at 2500-3500 RPMs......

Trust me, its not the last time.

+1 to the custom kit. You might even be able do get it done cheaper than posted by KD. It all depends on the mufflers and cats and or resonators.

Thanks guys - the oem crap is so restrictive i figured some mandrel piping and more of a free flowing muffler would improve the sound, i dont care about the performance, sure it might improve a little but - this car wasn't intended to be fast. I just want a deeper tone.

Just swap out the mufflers in that case.

Where are you located?

I myself am torn in between a new exhaust note or just engine noise.

To me the LS can sound good with the right mufflers but its just not the sound I want to hear so I have been thinking more and more about going to my stock mufflers and leaving the pipes and cats from my kit intact or finding a sleeper type. That way its all motor in your ears.

I'm going with Spin Tech...here's a video of a G8 with the mufflers :-D

Turn up the bass!

Dude you are comparing an exhaust note on a 5.7L LS1 engine that put out 350hp from the factory to the LSes 3.9L V8. If you are expecting that sound from the LS strictly from putting on this exhaust you will be sorely disappointed. BTW that's an 04 GTO not a G8 which didn't come out until 2008.

Magnaflow P/N15710 is $737 at Performance Peddler. Call them and ask for their best forum discount, and you'll likely get it for <$550.

Yes I miss titled and I KNOW what size engine it is...just there is no videos of engines close to ours for exhaust like spin-Tech or Corsa.....so it's hard to find similar sound...but I think I'll just keep my Magnaflow and put on some double wall ovals

Werner - I am in Illinois........I also thought about that - just increase the diameter of the tubing and using the stock mufflers............I do like how the motor sounds when i hit it now with the cai........maybe take the resonators out......

I was gunna say I would sell you my mufflers or trade if you lived near me. I would still be game but I just dont like shipping things that big.

What ever you do I suggest keeping resonators intact. Everyone without them kind of gets that annoying raspy sound which would be the opposite of what you are looking for.

i bough a summit racing X pipe kit ($75), Flomaster 40 delta's ($200) and some straight pipes and U bends ($70) and then just spent a little time welding. love the sound.

...so obviously, you're gonna put up a vid soon...riiiiggght?! :shifty: :D

That sounds like a killer system you made, and although I'm not a Flowmaster fan, I'm sure it sounds great!

Sounds like it would be too loud. Its not a Vette. Or am I wrong with the small cube displacement?
