Major Differences between 02 and 03 LS V8?

Hi Guys,
I'm new to the forum and am in the market to purchase a new Lincoln LS, but have a few dilemas/questions...here they are...

What is the major differences between the 02 models and the 03-04 models.
I have read that the 03 + models have been upgraded allot. I know the horsepower has gone up in the 03+ models as well. I also notice the difference in the rear braking lights between both years.
Is there any difference between the front bumper/grill area? As well, i have seen pictures of the chrome trim that goes around the bumper on 02 and less models, but never seen it on 03+ models.
Is the "lines" or the "shape" of the car the same as well, or or there any styling curves or lines in the body that differ? I just cant seem to put my eye on it. They look different, but other times the look the same lol!!
The biggest thing about the 2 is the rims/mags. I love the mags on the 00 - 02 models, those chrom 5-star mags they put on the car, also came non chromed as well. It seems that the 03+ models didn't offer these mags on the car, can i put the older mags on the newer models? Last but not least, i have seen many pictures of 02 models in beautiful Black paint, but never seem to see any 03 + models in Black, could someonejust confirm that Black was available in all years...

I like the interior of the 03+ better, but love the look of this 02..the exterior is so hot!!

there were over 500 changes between those years.

the hp increase was mainly do to:
- VVT
- improved exhaust
- thottle by wire

i am mainly intersted in the "exterior" differences right now...if i put 02 mags like in the picture i posted above on a 03, i am assuming that they will look identical?
DO you know if i could change the rear lights from a 02 onto a 03? It looks like the 02 was all red and the newer models had some white on top.
 
correct - the basic body lines are the same.

correct - the 03+ have two-tone lights. the inner trunk lid mounted lights are smaller. You can do this to your pre-03 by installing the japenese version of the lamp - www.lskoncepts.com .

you can get all red versions of the 03+ - the LSE models had them

I am slowly learning allot here!! I am so stuck with witch model to get!! Like i said, i like that new "silver" theme in the newer models, but like the exterior look of the pre-03's better.
I spent a few minutes looking at your pictures and i have to say, your ride is sweet!! I love that "lower lip" below your front bumper! Where did you get that?
As i continue my camparisions between both models, heres another one for ya..you see the first picture i posted, it had that chrome trim around the rear bumper, i also see it going accross the front bumper too, was that an option or available on 03 an newer, i haven't seen that on any newer models. Does that just stick on or something or was there a groove in the bumper for that?
Thanks for the link as well, i was reading that the newer LS's had gotten the "HID" lights up front in the higher models, was that avaiable on the 02? I think i saw a conversion for it though..i think the setup on the 02 VS. the 03 is different up front though?

nope - the premiums had a different bumper than the sports. the chrome strip is part of the bumper. you can swap bumpers but cannot simply remove the strip

right - not factory available in pre-03 but you can add conversion kits.
 
you can get the LSE kit from Ken (Grayghost1) www.lskoncepts.com .

I use the wings west kit - and then swapped in the 03 fog lights to get the more rounded look.
 
what model had the chrome on the front and rear bumper? Premium or Sport?

What is the difference between both models? Is everything from the Sport model in the Premium model? It is half way down the first page but does not go into detail about what each option offers and the differences..I have a dealer not to far from me who has a LS for sale, apperently it is the most fully loaded option that exists (it's an 02 like heated seats, sun roof etc..)...i like it allot, but it doesn't have the chrome trim around the bumpers...how do i know which model it is, it's the V8. I am guessing, if it has a V8 with chrome trim it's one model, and if it's a V8 withou the trim it's another..is this fair to say?
 
I have a 02 premium and I have the chrome. The sport 02 does not have the chrome. The other major diffrence between them is that the sport has selectshift...the premium does not.
P.S. As far as considering the chrome i think that it can be bought as a sepreate piece...(i might be wrong) and that you can take it of the bumber and paint it so don't worry about that too much.
 
The chrome strip on the bumpers can be taken off but it will leave an indention on the bumper and there will be holes where the chrome strip mounts too. It won't be pretty. Also, you can not add the chrome strip to a sport version bumper without some heavy modification. The easiest way is to purchase the bumper cover and swap it out.

right - the sport models came with mono-colored bumpers, stiffer shocks, different anti-sway bars, and the SST shifter.

the premium came with the chrome, had options - for audiophile sound systems, sport suspension, ...etc. you can swap the shifter for $240 and get SST as well.

You can buy the shifter from Ford Parts Network. Contact Torrie at torrie@fordpartsnetwork.com. He can get the shifter for you.

As for install, it's a fairly easy install. Worse part is getting underneath the car to take the shifter cable loose. I'd say it would be a 2 hour job.
