mark viii acident thread

aww man. i liked that car.
glad you walked. car did its job.
these cars prove time and again they are pretty tough.

It did do its job. As hard as both impacts were I was shocked to see how well the car held up. If I had been in something smaller I may not have walked away

Man, I am afraid of hitting the gas on dry roads goin 50 because it gets sideways- I can only imagine what was going through your head when it kicked sidewalk on a wet road. Glad to see you walked away!

Lol, im not gonna lie man, I was scared ****less, first thought when that rear end came around was I cant believe this is how it all ends. Wrecks on the interstate usually dont end well, but luckily both people avoided serious injury. There was a lot of traffic around, still trying to figure out how i went across 3 lanes without getting hit by someone else before I hit the wall, and was lucky nobody else hit me or her after she hit me. Somebody was on my side that day lol

I have had a lot of cars sideways. I lost my 69 Cutlass at over 100 mph on a corner, Gatorbacks do not let go in a nice manner, and got her back after almost 360 degrees of slide.

My 93 Mark VIII is, by far, the worst I have ever seen for retrieving from a slide generated by power. For me, in any other car, a couple of flicks and we are back. I have nearly lost the Mark a couple of times now.

I think the traction control gets wiggy when she slides and gets into the act with the back brakes. That would explain some of the nastiness in slide land.

My 2014 Mustang GT is terrible with the Advance Trac on in slick conditions. I was in the third lane to the left on the interstate going into work a few weeks back. Roads looked wet but were actually partial ice under the salt. The car suddenly lost traction on both ends as I hit a stretch of black ice and the nose went toward the SUV in the left lane. I corrected and Advance Trac kicked in. I went across the right two lanes and off the shoulder recovering right before I went a foot from smacking the barrier. I was lucky as the roads are usually packed and there was no one to the right of me. I have never had a car drift on my like that without recovering, felt like I was on skates as the Advance Trac tried unsuccessfully to brake to regain control.
