mark viii air shocks

This picture clearly shows the obvious differences between a strut suspension and an upper and lower control arm suspension like the Mark VIII. It is obvious to anyone with any knowledge of automotive suspensions that the Mark VIII does not have McPherson struts. Sorry, but it is true.

EVERY TIME SOMEONE NEEDS HELP WITH A STRUT QUESTION YOU COME IN WITH THIS "TEACH EVERYONE A LESSON CRAP" AND SEND THE THREAD IN A DIFFERENT DIRECTION!!! The facts speak for themselves. I'm right. I do have a degree in engineering and I know what a strut is. The Mark VIII's shocks aren't struts. Technically, even McPherson struts aren't struts, they're "dampers". But that's another stroy. Since facts aren't important to anyone, I'll go about my business. I just have a problem shutting up about something that I know to be wrong. But I'll leave this one alone for now since everyone seems to be oblivious to the facts. And I didn't mean to pi$$ anyone off. I just wanted to correct an error that seems to be very popular.

It sounds like the vent valve in the compressor might not be working. Did you replace the compressor with a new or rebuilt unit?

I agree, sounds a lot like a faulty vent solenoid.


You can disconnect the air suspension module connectors and jump the solenoids from there to test operation and/or deflate the airsprings

Hey Guys,

My 95 Mark VIII frontend is just sitting about 4" off of the ground. It did this once it got cold in the low 40's here in GA. Now I have cut the switch in the trunk 3 times but it still stays in the down position. When I drove it, it bounced like a toy. Not handling real well.

I am now driving my wifes mini van :-( Help me please I want my Mark VIII back soon.

I must have hit a nerve. Sorry. At least I don't have to resort to name calling and using profanity to get my point across. Why is it that when some people are told that they are wrong, the automatically go on the offensive and start calling names and cussing at the person who is right.
