Friends,
I am looking for an independent shop in the Los Angeles area
that is experienced in diagnosing and fixing the air ride suspensions
on our '93. Is there a specialist in my area?
My dealer wants more than the car is worth to change the front bags and compressor.

I agree with above... save that hard earned cash and do something cool to your mark!

It is unlikely you'll find a private shop that will be willing to work on you air ride suspension. Few, if any, will have invested in the Air Suspension diagnostic tools that the dealerships have.

With that said, there tends to be a finite number of things that can go wrong with the air ride. Though, they can go wrong with a degree of frequency.

What's the problem, what are your symptoms, and we can probably tell you how to find the problem, what is wrong with it, and how to fix it. Fortunately, while the system is technologically fancy, it's remarkably easy to work on.

I don't know what your experience with Mark VIII is, but since you've made most likely a relatively small investment in your 93. Your best bet would to go ahead and convert to springs. I would think that the air ride system would be a money pit at this point.
