Mark VIII HID lights?

I run 4300k, no need for any brighter unless you want to be one of those ricers with the blue or purple headlights. Hell thats what stock HID's are normally.

Do the LSC housing also have to be needed?

I ask because I am looking for a good complete set of LSC housings, ballast and bulbs.Just missed out on a good set on ebay.

Ive got the normal headlights, no need to buy the LSC headlights just to have HID's unless your deadset on having factory HID's.

I guess I could give it a try and order the kit but on the other board they have suggested to get to get the LSC housings do to better lighting from the clear lenses.

If your headlights are clear and the chrome isnt shot why waste 200-300.00 bucks??? Unless you like the look of the clear headlights.

Thats what i ordered, well i went with a 35w kit insted of the 55w.....was thinking less heat would make the newly rechromed lights last longer, now the check headlight message shows up everytime.

This is what HID's in new halogen housings look like. I bought different bulbs just to see what the different colors would look like. Everyone has their own preference on what "KELVIN" (12,000K, 10,000K, 8000K, 6000K, 5000K, 4300K) to put in. I have tried them all except for 4300K and I ended up going with 10,000K in the lows and 6000K in the high beams. I have an extra set of 6000K bulbs that I might put into the lows but I can see just fine with the 10K and to me, I don't see the "ricer" look and really don't give a sh!t what others think. Mine are white/blue in the lows and more of a white in the highs with a slight hint of blue but neither one is solid blue. I would feel safe in saying that 12,000K is ricer looking because that color is really trying to attract attention and possibly get you a ticket. I have pics below that show the 12K first, the 8K 2nd and then the 6K. I have a pic of the 10K somewhere but they are putting out about the same brightness as the 6K but with a bluish white tint.

This is the 10K lows and 6K highs, first pic lows only. I was in the process of aiming them because that was the two colors i finally settled on.

Good luck with your choice.

When I put HID in the Mark I think I put in 6k. I had a thread about them, or posted in one. Would be a few years ago. I had mentioned that 6k were still a little "blue" for my taste and that 4.3k would be idea for the BMW/Benz look that are factory.

Problem: The color temp is controlled by the mercury /gas mix in the lamp and the cheap HID kits are NOT at all precise. You could probably buy 5 kits and they would be all over the place. Also cameras have a tendency to color adjust. So for accurate comparison photos one would need a light temperature reader and a camera in manual/locked position for accurate comparisons.

The shots above are great. But the 6k look more "blue" than the 8k, and it should not be that way.

In my opinion though, 4 to 6k would be the most practical "factory look".

What do you need

Do you just need to buy the conversion kit? Or do you have to buy the bulbs, ballasts, harnesses etc....? And did anyone do it themselves.....

LOL why dont you tell us what you really think???...............ricer!!!!

I usually try too. :D I didn't mean that directly at you jr, it was really in a general way as in what people in my city think. To me, I don't really see enough blue to justify "ricer" and just because others go with or like 4300K, don't mean that's what I'm gonna go with. I apply to my car what I like "personally" and not what others like. As for the 12,000K lights, those were ricer to the extreme. Simply just too purple/blue for me and I already have a state trooper that hates to see my car coming down his HWY. I felt like Barney when I drove around with that color.

The factory look is what I didn't want but again, everyone has their own preference.

It might be possible that I have those backwards lol. I think I have them right though but like you said about cheaper priced bulbs. The color isn't always accurate. I sold that kit anyway because it was putting out a normal looking light color.

I agree completely. Just another reason I still have another 6K set of bulbs and also because they match what I have in the bright lights. I keep them in the glove box, in the original box, just in case that lovely state trooper pulls me over for having lights with a slight blue tint. I can swap over in 2 minutes and be on my way. I rarely even drive the car so it doesn't matter much. Night time driving is very rare for me. BTW, the pics were taken by a Sony DSW-120 but it was set on simple mode. It wasn't locked and loaded...

It was going into my 68 Mustang intill the body work started and the car was just way too bad to salvage so i parted everything out trying to make my cash back. I held on to the engine intill i couldnt afford the storage unit anymore. I sold it to a buddy (wayyyyy too cheap) that was building it from the ground up to swap into his 01 Mustang GT pushing 12lbs of boost.

When he gets done with that, I would like to see some pics of it. I still have the pics of it before it ever left the garage. It looked rough but I had no idea just how rough it really was when you came down to get it. The firemen and water never crossed my mind but I guess everything all worked out.

Yes they do but theres more than enough room to mount them in the Mark 8, if you have the beauty cover above the headlights you'll never see them and also the cost 10.00 more when i bought mine, i figured why spend 10.00 more for something ill never look at.
