Hi, If a mark viii won't vent down how do you tell if it's a height sensor or the compressor? thanks

It's the vent on the compressor - common problem. They get crap in them over the years and don't allow the system to vent. I installed a spider valve from American Air Suspension which bypasses the stock vent.

Consider yourself lucky, that vent can either get stuck closed or opened.

The Spider-Valve or a new compressor are the only options I've been able to find. Expect to spend between $150-200 for this repair.

Shouldn't hurt to drive high, but if it gets stuck low park it.

I just gave up on the air suspension when mine died, and switched to coils. May want to get new rear shocks and mounts along with those if you do that though, especially if you're still running on the stock parts.

Thanks, just put on new front shocks and a new compressor last year. New rear shocks this week, that's when the problem started.

One thing- if you're just waiting to get a vent on the car, turn off the air ride.

While it might not vent, it will still add pressure if you add a load and then be unable to release it.

Also, while it's stuck closed now, there's always the chance it'll open, then get stuck and you'll find yourself slammed.
