Mass air Sensor on Lincoln LS??

Anybody had their mass air sensor go out on the Lincoln LS, my wifes is bad and has a check engine light on, I am planning on replacing it this weekend and resetting the code. Has anybody replaced on of these, looks to be pretty easy, just wanted to know if there was anything else to know, car is starting to hesitate a bit.

Are you sure it's the MAS

Is the CEL giving you the code for the MAS or one of those lean codes?

My wife said the guy at autozone who did the diagnostic told her it was the mass air sensor. What is the lean code?

If the MAF sensor is indeed bad, you should be experiencing some drivability issues.

Oh it is! My wife says it is dying on her and seems to be idling low at stop lights and in turn..sometimes goes dead. I have the part on order and hopefully this will fix the problem. What would the car do if I just unplugged the MAS to see if the problem goes away or stays?

don't EVER order a $200 part due to a autozone diag. we can help, get the code number....it could be bad, but there are no "techs" at autozone, believe me.....

Well..what would be symtoms of a bad MAS? The car idles rough, and dies if it sits long at a stop light. At idle, the RPM seems to go up and down.

Those could very well be MAF symptoms. But there are specific diagnostic procedures and tests. First and foremost would be the code that's been set.

Sorry I don't have the code, it's my wifes car and she took it in to get the code read. I'm just looking for the solution.

Also, where is the fuel filter located on the 2001 Lincoln LS V6, thanks!!

Ok, it wasn't the MAS, my loss, they read the code again and I think it came up 0173 too lean, bank 2! It tells me O2 sensors on bank 2, does this sound right. Like I said the car runs fine till sitting at idle, it will idle fine and then stall and die. I reallly need help with this one. Thanks guys!!

p0173 doesn't mean the sensor is bad, it means it is showing lean, most probable cause is an air leak, look for tubes and hoses that have came loose or cracked (pull the engine cover).... it could be the sensor, just not likely....
