Brag, brag, brag...:D

I had a girlfriend at the time and felt great guilt. Plus the fact that the mom (teacher) had kids my age (thank the lord the kids went to another school) added to the stress. Young guy, hot lady. Believe me, women get what they want and that is why it is wrong. I couldn't say no if I wanted to and I can just imagine what goes thru the mind of a 12/13 year old. The 12 year old kid might be bragging, but the emotional damage has been done.

If you don't agree, then I say a 14 year old girl is fair game for any middle aged loser.

I didn't have a girlfriend when I went through my 'crush' stage, and I'm glad (now) I didn't get a shot at my teacher. It would have screwed me up royally. I was a mass of hormones and emotions and probably would have clung to her like stink to crap.

I just remembered an old thread...Lewis Libby wrote a book about pedophilia, bestially and rape all mixed together. Not one single Republican in here voiced a complaint over Libby's endorsement of this, why this stink over Matt Lauer when it even isn't clear that he was endorsing anything to begin with?

The Thread:

Oh, double Snap!

It was a book of fiction. Set in 1903 in China.

Would I read it, no? Did I wish I had owned it? Duh. $2400 a copy on Ebay.

Is the guy a moron for writing it? I'd say ya, fiction or no fiction.

Make that a triple snap...

That makes it more for the worse, if it was a book based on facts to educate people to these (for lack of a better word) authorities it wouldn't be bad. The fact that is was a fantasy book made for reading enjoyment means this guy is seriously messed up in the head, let alone a moron. Still, no Republican complained or asked for Libby to be fired for endorsing that crap unlike what we see on this very thread over Matt Lauer's story.

I'm surprised how this guy went under the anti child pornography radar.

Or, perhaps no one knew who he was, or that such a book was published.

Since, I'm sure no one is really familiar with the book, but are these things simply refrenced or glorified?

But since this has nothing to do with either Matt Lauer, Latourneau, or the broader issue of societies increasingl tolerance for adult/juvenile sex, what's the point? Just because someone is disgusted by this one story, that doesn't mean they are aware of every literary piece (that no one read) that might have controversial content.

It came up in a thread long ago when the Libby outing scandal was hot.

The excerpts I read online were pretty much pedophile, bestiality rape scenes. It is a fantasy reading book.

My issue was, are the right wingers in here up in arms over the possibility that a public figure is endorsing child rape or are 'they' up in arms because he's from a so called 'liberal news' outlet.

What seems to be so often missed is the fact that we're not dealing with isolated incidences from these "liberal news" outlets. And that's the mistake too many of the guys on the left keep making when they try to debate these issues, or the element that the guys on the right aren't apparently making clear enough. These stories aren't isolated, they are cumulative.

It's the pattern of bias, it's the regularity of their skewed perspective. This was just a recent offensive comment. Matt Lauer interviewed Ann Coulter today, as noted in another thread, and his warped perspective and bias is on display in their too.

Funny how the Scientologists never have to answer for their founder's perversion. Anybody who's read the Mission Earth series by L. Ron Hubbard knows that he was a sick SOB who wrote page after page of fiction describing young boys being molested by adult males. But Tom Cruise and John Travolta never get asked hard questions about that kind of stuff.

I agree with you on that... L. Ron retired and lived on his yacht to avoid the I.R.S. for tax evasion; consequently he always had many young men 'friends' with him on the boat.

But I never bothered to read any of his books; I was unfortunate enough to have been coerced into seeing that horrible flop of a movie 'Battle Field Earth'. Waste of time and money.

If you want to get a good laugh, check out the anti-scientologist site [ www.Xenu.net ], it was made by a former scientologist who after years of service and thousands upon thousands of dollars spent on scientology was fortunate enough to have an epiphany and got out. The best part, he has actual documents from L. Ron Hubbard telling the scientology leaders how to deal with issues. He was one ruthless bastard that L. Ron.

You mentioned Battlefield Earth. I will tell you now that the fact that the movie was a flop is a tragedy. This is because the book was without a doubt the BEST Science Fiction book I've ever read. It was surprisingly squeaky-clean and well-written, and has a VERY satisfying ending. The movie simply could not squeeze the book into one screening. I liken it to the Lord of the Rings, which almost didn't get produced until Peter Jackson found a company willing to make it three movies.

If you have five dollars and about two weeks of free evening reading time, I would tell you that you would find the book well worth it. You would probably read it more than once in your lifetime, as I've read it four times and it's 1100 pages. It is simply excellent.

Thanks for the advice; he was after all a science fiction writer first and foremost. Maybe I’ll give it a whirl, I do like sci-fi, but no way am I reading Dianetics.
