Mechanic Told Me I Need New Engine

I had my engine Hydrolocked, I guess i drove it through some 2 feet of water doing 60, i thought id hydroplane over it but te car died and i had to push it out. I had a new factory engine installed by my lincoln dealership and it was like 11000 but i have an 03 LS6 so i dunno how much the engine varies. I wanted to get the V8 but it would have been 5000 more and insurance didnt want to do that. Ever since i gotthis new engine, ive had it for like 3 months on it and not one problem.

your joking right? you really didn't think your car would "float" over 2 feet of water did you? lol

11 grand for a dealer-installed 6 cylinder ?! Damn ... but, then again, the dealer's rates on labor are probably sky high.

So can a 03+ be put in a 00-02 without swapping all the computer/ electronics?

Doubtful. The 03+ models have electronic throttle control (drive by wire), as well as other systems that are more advanced than those found on the 00-02 models. You would need to add all the ancillary systems to make an 03 engine work in an 00-02 car.

Theoretically, it might be possible, but you would lose the things the give the '03-'06 V8 its advantage over the '00-'02 V8s. Who knows what would happen with the loss of control over the VVT, or if the pre-'03 throttle body would fit the newer intake (or if the pre-'03 intake would fit the newer engine), or if there's a mount point for the hydraulic fan pump.
