Might be a new owner to Lincoln LS

2002 Lincoln LS is best

For reference, in decending order of best to worse:
circle with the lines in it means best
half lines - half clear
clear
half black - half clear
all black means it's worse

I think that speaks for itself... Appears the electrical on current and recent model Jags has been sketchy at best, horrible at worse.

The LS doesn't have a superb record either, but the Jag (exception of the XJ) sure seem to fair worse than the LS... I see much much more half black and all black circles in there!

Looks like the 2002 LS was best (as reported by the consumers)

I was rather surprised to see that myself. Obviously, some of that has to do with just simple luck of the draw but... still surprising to see some of those results. Like the transmission; slight change in generations, but unchanged for each generation, and they rate differently; same goes for the engine-minor. Generally I try to look at when major changes were made and clump reliability together for those model years.

Unfortunately for whatever reason, it's missing the 06 model year results

I'd also be interested to see what the reported problems were on the 03-up suspension... from my time on this board, I've seen very little issues with the 03-up suspension, much more with the 00-02 (I'd suspect due to the smaller ball joints).

Also important to note is they weigh repairs higher on newer models; a shock replacement might not sway the rating one bit on an 01, but on an 05 it could push the rating into the black. So it could also be a factor of mileage on the rating pool's vehicles or even a case of more people replacing wear out parts when they should be replaced on their newer vehicles, while the older vehicles are neglected.

Anyway, it's not scientific, but it gives you a decent idea of what you've got.

I was quite surprised to see the MKZ with GREAT marks... Now if only it performed worth a damn.

As posted above, I would go for as new as one as you can get, but preferably anything from 2003 - 2006. Here is the WIKI for the Lincoln LS that tells you some of the changes:

Lincoln LS WIKI

IN 2003, the V8 went to 280hp from 252hp (2000-2002). Also, if you can get one with the DVD Navigation system, it comes with a THX certified sound system.

I would go for a 2006 PRE-CERTIFIED if your budget allows, as it will still be under manufacturers warranty, and you can get the extended warranty on it as well!
