I'll be honest and say I don't know if I should pursue this one or not. I've tried to read a lot of threads on this, and I've seen a lot of debate on whether or not it's worthwhile to do so.

I've got a 2006, and would be choosing between the K&N Typhoon kit or the KKM True-Rev if I did something.

I'll try to be honest again and say that I'm really not looking to go faster, but more of trying to get a little better gas mileage and allow the engine to work a little more efficiently (if that's possible). I'm certainly not going to complain if it ends up giving it a little more growl to the sound.

As stated in the first mod research post, I'll humbly accept all flame posts if I could have gotten the info I'm looking for from previous threads.

I love my intake, it helped my mileage and my horse power

I dont have a heat shield but I do like my set up

Cracker, can you supply a site on where to get that stuff from? I'll include it in the options if it does as good as the other two kits.

Screw the typhoon, get the K&N FIPK. The heat shield is important

I only say that because the aluminum tube won't match anything else under the hood

Holy High-priced CAI, Batman!

Crap, that K&N FIPK goes for around 300 clams! Is it really worth it? <smacks head for realizing that he just asked a subjective question that everyone will have a different answer to>

Before I chose which one to get there was only about $30 difference between them, and I though the typhoon looked to "honda'ish"

I love my intake. K&N w/ the shield. It has the perfect combination of growl/luxury quiet.

300 bucks? get a SCT XCal tune instead.

Yep, I'd love to get it, but 300 bucks just for that is a bit much. I'll have to wait and save my pennies a bit longer, I guess.

Thanks,

Thanks, Andrizzle. I'm going to watch the Ebay auction and see where it goes - not sure if I'll bid or not. It looks a little fishy with the bidding so far - at least to me and the shipping is way out of normal range. $42.50?!!

TRU

Look @ the shipping options. You can pick from 3. Just pick the lowest. Plus you are probably further away from the item as it goes by zipcode

Yep, I figured it's worth watching and if it's reasonable near the end of the auction, I'll take a shot at it. I'd feel better if the seller included a picture of the actual kit instead of the typical online/manufacturer pic.

Yea I would just message him. He seems legit with good feedback though.

I got my K&N used also, off of a member here. Sure as hell beats the $300 price tag.

k&n 57 series with heatshield is the way to go the money is worth it just for the growl when accelerating.

I have the typhoon.I like the aluminum cause it stands out. It catches your eyes. The other one is just black and blends in.I think its worth it. Loved how it woke the little beast it the ls. Gave it a new pair of lungs.

k&n $270 out the door on ebay. It performs well and the setup is the cleanest. $270 is not that much for something nice.

I agree you won't be sorry the first time you drive your LS after install you'll be like sweeeet!

All the parts that I said can be bought at any NAPA. Just grab a cone filter, and an MAF adapter. You might need to stop by a hardware store for some new bolts if it doesnt come with it.
