And from speaking with the game lab techs and looking over the motherboard of both ps3 and xbox360's..Xbox's are a piece of MS crap..Very poorly made with three variations of Mobo's Ms made and still can't correct their overheating/graphics issue.. Can't wait to see the new xbox 360's to show up lol

Yea I've done it twice already. I can take it apart like you said in about five minutes with my eyes closed. I think it's the thermal paste that I used the first two times. Cheap stuff from Best Buy is not holding up. I'm going to order some Artic Silver from Newegg and try it. Hopefully I that will do the trick. I have a 500 gig hard drive in that ps3.

Ok, I'm getting my lil man online. I guess I'm doing this right. I had to enter the WPA key and SSID, that took me forever, it seems. Anyway, it says it's downloading some kind of update right now. This is what I'm seeing.

well i know with xbox they come out with updates to fix bugs and stuff i guess in the system, also the same with games, so since you have never been online with it, it is probably installing updates that sony has come out with

Yeah, it's never been online at all but I never knew it could be online using my wireless router. It said it was updating the software version and if it was turned off during the update, I would never be able to update it to the higher version. It's about 1/2 way through now. There's no telling how many updates it has missed from not being online. I'll have it done tonight and he'll be on that thing all day tomorrow. He might be on it tonight if he stays up that long.

I'm not even messing with the X-Box to get it online. I think he'll be happy with the PS3 and MW2 and whatever other games he has in there.

That seems like the PS3 software update. Once you go into the game, it will probably install the update for the game because the game producers always have to fix stuff that should have been done before release.:rolleyes:

IDK how much you know about this, so you might wanna tell your son about this also. If he goes under playstation network, go to playstation store under the tab. In the store, he can download demo's of the games to see which one he likes and all so you don't waste money on games he doesn't like.

Normally he goes on youtube and see's the games being played and then he knows what he wants then. Other than that, he watches commercials and he will see something eye catching and then start begging. I finally got him on and I listened for a while. There was some bad talk but like I said, he knows not to repeat any of it. His user name is darksidepill and don't ask me where he got that name but that's what he wanted. I'll never get him off that thing now. :D Just remember, he's only 8 but he's good for his age. I think he's seeing now that there are better. :p

yeah but being able to actually play the game will let him know if he likes the controls

like said before its really just bad language theres lots of kids his age playing bad co. 2 its kinda annoying hearing the kids chatter so ill just get into another match

I heard some Cubans on their last night and I couldn't understand much of what they were saying. It was kinda funny listening to them. My kid won't be heard because I'm not getting him a mic and headphone set until he gets a little older but by then, 3-D versions of both games will be out. He has a mic and headphone set for the X-Box but I'm not paying for him to play online. He has enough.
 
I never could play those "combat" videogames. I had a 12 year old kick my arse at.... Counter Strike??? Something like that. After I tired of his taunts and listening to how great he and his "teammates" are, I went home, grabbed a couple of paintball guns, begged, borrowed and stole a few more, and took him, his friends, and a couple of parents out in the real world.

Six energetic 12 to 15 year olds against one cynical, lazy old fart. They didn't do well... at all. I had them chasing ghosts of me for a good 4 hours. Then, I got hungry and "killed" them all. As a consolation prize, I bought them all lunch. They don't tell me how great they are at that game anymore... :/
 
Gamertag on both the 360 and the ps3 is "shagdrum", unsuprisingly...
 
Ok, I just played my son on split screen and he shot the hell out of me. I suck but I have 5 min experience with it. He was on top of something and killing me and I couldn't find him. But..... when he gets online, he gets maybe 3 to 5 kills but he gets killed about 10 times or more. I just thought he was good but he only has one night experience with the online thing. He figures stuff out quick. I already hate the game, I don't like the way it controls but I guess it's something you have to get used to. I'm not even going to start. Need for speed "Most Wanted" on X-Box is my game. :D My son can't hang with me on that. Tonight was my first time ever to play the PS3 and the game was MW2 and I don't like it.
 
Who plans on getting Grand Turismo 5, its a racing game for those that don't play video games:) We should have an LVC racing event when it comes out on November 2. That is if we can get a good amount of members from here to play with.
 
I don't really play much racing games....last one I did was Need For Speed Unlimited.....I refuse to play sport games....pretty much I HATE playing games that could become repetative too quickly...many racing games play the same damn track too much or limit you to the same style car...sport games are just plain boring...put down the controller and play the real sh*t, you fat @ss

thats how it is AI is dumb, repetitive, and wont get mad at you real people will. when i got my ps3 this year for christmas i had no games i rented MW2 and walked right through the one player in 2 days but online i sucked real people remember and learn things and your secret hiding spot is known and watched by snipers

i thought i read something about them making a new hot pursuit, i had the original for my ps1 and always wanted them to go back that direction, they tried a couple times but nothing as good as the original hopefully the new one will be

thats what we did at the boscobel meet 2 years ago, kinda. rich got the local movie theater and we hooked up my ps2 to the screen and we had virtual racing night with GT4 and eve of destruction, and everyones favorite BOOZE!!!!!
