ive been looking at motors, and several places say there wasonly one make of motor for the mark series for my year,(98). isaid is it from a lsc?, again only one comes up on their computer. what makes the difference in the lsc motor? theres a 10hp difference, and i cant seem to get any answers from these people.

the 10hp diff comes from the true dual exhuast.

p.s. F you rb :)

Correct... What sets an LSC apart is the exhaust...and the trim delete package, and some extra letters on the tail light

Any title I have seen for any year Mark says "Mark VIII LSC". After all, they are indeed Luxury Sport Coupes. But the "LSC" trim package was introduced in mid or late 95 and ran til 98. In 98 there was a spring feature car and collector editions. If you see anything like a "Panther" edition, it was not factory. Wow, I got a little off topic.

There is no more Spring Feature/CE...Jamie cut the only one left to pieces...lol

actually all untrue. the eprom in the lsc model in the factory tune gives the additional 10 hp. i spent about a half hour with frpp, and they explained everything. the block, intake, and the exhaust allthe same. the computer is the diff.an easy check for non believers is the part numbers on the eprom comp.

Side by side of a Base/LSC exhaust...

listen, call ford yourself, dont take my word for it.and i quote " yes the lsc came with a different exhaust, but that is not how hp ratings come out from the factory, the motor and its computer due to epa and other regulatory commissions is rated as an independant factor thats why on the specs the option is a 4.6l with 280hp or 4.6l with 290hp,the MOTOR. the exhaust was not a determining factor because the motors were tested out of the car on a motor dyno with all else being equal. Trust me i called all over all day long, cause i have nothjing to do.But like i said the answer is out there a phone call away

I just called 2 perf shops, 8 dealerships, bmw and benz repair shops , they said it's cause it has true dual exhuast.

Old way of measuring engine HP was called SAE Gross Power. This was done at crank with min belt driven accessories and long tube headers. In 71ish they switched to SAE NET POWER. This is done with all stock acc's on and run with stock computer and STOCK exh. Meaning NO engine gets rating without the exh.

I love when the new guys come in here and tell us to listen to HIM because he talked to a dealership.

Bud, we have guys on here that are MarkVIII encyclopedias. Quit being stubborn and listen.

What he said

I hope that everyone understood that was my poor attempt at humor.

all i wanted was to know if i was getting the right motor for my lsc. the rest is just repeating what i was told. i was sharing what i found out, youd have to be an idiot to not know that a true dual exhaust doesnt add more hp.and yes i am stubborn, thanks.
