Hybrids make sense if you're going downhill a ton or braking a lot. Other than that they're a big EPIC FAIL. Incredibly complicated with loads of things to go bad, low performance, batteries to go bad, conversion losses and all kinds of other woes. If I was purely interested in fuel economy I'd take one of those 4 cylinder turbos in a second over a pos hybrid.

Get a good run towards the top of Parley's pass out of Park City, then coast all the way into SLC.

Actually there is an exception to what I said about hybrids. Plug-in hybrids avoid conversion losses because ideally they won't need to run the engine anyway. However they're still just half-azzed electric cars imo.

Pure electric or pure gas ftw.

friend of mine worked for gm, said the real reason they built hybrids was to satisfy the government and greenies. no real economic sense in building them.
