Well I didn't get it
My Daughter did.
(Long Story but Fun)
For those of you who know me I have 3 daughters ages 19-24 one is my biological daughter (the youngest) and 2 are my step children (middle and oldest although the middle daughter is only older than the youngest by 1 month).

Our Middle daughter is the one who drives the 93 Mark VIII. She is not the tack runners that I have posted about. She is a beautiful petite young adult with a very unique personality, she's the artist the sensible child the one that you don't worry about as she's too level headed and could kick the $hit out of most men.

She was given the 93 to drive because while in High School she chose to go to a High School that was 30 miles away. My wife and I wanted her to drive a car that she'd be safe in, in case of an accident. Seeing the she had been driving an T-Bird we were not afraid of the RWD, plus this is the child who drives 55 mph because that's what the law says. I'm not getting a ticket. If weather looks a bit hazardous she's the one who will say I'm not going I'm staying here or not coming home.

So with this introduction done here the story on the ticket.

Middle daughter had come home to visit a friend who was on leave from Iraq he was having a Bonn fire party.

It was about midnight when the phone rang. Mom I'm pulled over...(this is the child who would have to call and wouldn't hid anything. Too afraid she'd be discovered before she got home.) I'll call you later with details.

At 1:00 AM we get another call. Mom I'm OK but we are going to get something to eat then I'm coming home.

At 3:00 AM Middle daughter enters the bedroom. My wife asks her are you OK. She said yes. The we ask how much was the ticket. She said $375  was our thoughts how fast were you going! He clocked me at 82 MPH. This is not her!! Oh and the ticket was for Racing  ! Well here's the story.

She and her roommate from college were in the Mark VIII. Another friend of hers was driving a small pick up truck. They got into a 4 lane area of the road (rarity in this part of WI), her friend in the pick up started to pass her so she said hey wait my car is much faster than that truck, so she pulled along sided her and wouldn't let her pass. Then at one point punched it a bit to go ahead. Then On Came the Lights. 5 cop cars pull her and her friend over. Both got tickets...

My wife an I just laughed.:D  as we knew that she'd be harder on herself by being dumb and we know she just wouldn't do anything to put herself in harm.

But we told her that she needs to take this ticket to court to get the racing off the ticket. You should have heard the way she was going to explain the ticket to the judge. Well we were racing but we really didn't mean it. Too funny.. we told her she needs to talk to someone to give her the right words as she'll get herself thrown in jail if she tries to explain what she was doing:p ..

Funny story,
Its great that she can come to you guys and tell it like it is, be open and honest, thats a great relationship you and you wife have with her.
I can hear her trying to explain to the cops how she was racing but not racing.
Kids can drive you crazy, my boy is 15 wants to drive so bad but no way in gods green earth is he going to use a mark for a daily driver he is too much like me.
Looks like you better step up that search for a escort now that she has found her lead foot :p

I agree funny story but she did the right thing by not hiding it from you and your wife, she did good. Things like that happen once in a while, sounds like the 93 still has some life left in it. Looks like another future Mark VIII owner in the family.

Oh none of our kids hid there tickets... LOL... not even my son... He's lost his license twice now, but he's never had a driver's license:rolleyes:

That's pretty funny, I've had two tickets since I bought my Marks, one of them I paid off, cost me every bit of $500. 20 over the speed limit and had to have a lawyer plead it for me. Sounds expensive but worth every penny considering what the insurance hike would have cost me in the long run. I don't speed much anymore but it's easier to get away with it, in the city.

96hotrodlincoln I agree with you after loosing my DL 7 times I now use a lawyer every time havent lost it after that

OUCH....
5 patrol cars ? What were they doing waiting for them ??LOL
I never had that many in my day The most was two>>
Thats cool that your "kids" can talk to you that way... Keep up the good work.

Cops followed them towards town and had called for back up...

Would have loved to have seen it. LOL... she must have been $hitting bricks.. worried that they'd be taking her in... LOL

I sure the cop said WTF when he seen a girl runnin it. I'd get her some slicks and a helmet.

Rich,
I sure would be panicin after that .. Now we know why so many patrol cars:eek:

No.. that was the youngest who was making alcohol in her locker. LOL...

This is the unique one that I haven't posted anything about yet...

the power of the Mark is over coming.
Thats Why I had to sell mine my foot is too big .
since then my wife has gotten a ticket in her 94 Mark

She's a good kid (comes from good upbringing!).

Not to be pushy but I would consider getting legal help. Here in VA they ream anyone under 21, not to mention insurance rates. Reckless (20mph over the limit) Driving here in VA can get you jail time -30days max. Racing, if they convict you, they can take the car, even if not titled to them and tack on the jail time!!!

For those of you with bad kids! http://www.davisnet.com/drive/products/carchip_products.asp

I just bought one, I'm not a parent so I don't have that problem, but I bought it for troubleshooting a check engine light that won't store in the computer. It's nice, cause you can plug it into the OBD II port and leave it, it will log several different things, as well as trouble codes, and allows you reset CEL's.

If you're interested, go here to buy, it's the cheapest price I was able to find, even beat ebay. http://www.provantage.com/davis-8226~7DAVC00A.htm

82 in what a 65??? And they got racing tickets???

Thats stupid. I was WOT in my Mustang once, screaming down a 30 let off and got clocked while slowing at 50...cop didn't even ask what I was doing just gave me the ticket which got turned into almost nothing.

The hill billy cops you got out there are funny.

If her record is clean pay a lawyer to make it go away or almost.

Ouch! 375$!!! Thats a hilarious story man, racing a pickup to boot. Watch out for the insurance rates they may want to bump it up for a ticket like that Rich, I got a 250$ ticket for speeding in my Continental going 70 in a 50mph zone, they wanted to bump my insurance another 100$ more every 6 months for reckledd driving, had to change insurance companies to avoid there ridiculous claim, now I'm with AMEX it takes two over the top speeding tickets/ moving violations, to make them bump up the cost.

I second that, did she win?

hi rich sorry to hear the news. know what that is like jon my youngest got 9 tickets one night by out running the cop on A MOPED. live and learn. as my aunt told me they will learn that they can't slide on barb wire. mike is coming back this week. he wants to go up to great lakes dragway this weekend. hope the weather improves before then. catch you later JD

*LMAO*

you need to pat that girl on the back.

she simply needs to tell the judge, "I was not racing that truck".

That truck was "chasing me".

HAD I been racing that truck, at 82 MPH it would have been atleast 10-20 car lengths behind me.

Your honor I would like to add, that I was also "still in second gear"... to limit my speed.
Third gear starts at between 98-105MPH and I didn't want to be traveling at excessive unsafe speeds so I put my car in second gear to prevent that from happening.

With that said...."The truck may have been racing me, but I was not racing that truck"

Get a good solid tune on the car and you can set specific limits such as speed and RPM.

Then get one of the driving monitors you put in the car that datalogs his speeds and routes.

Then.. reward his good safe driving with regular trips to the dragstrip where you can "unleash" the mark 8's tune and let him "get his YAYA's" out.

If he's got a decent head on his shoulders he'll quickly learn that the "street" is for driving and picking up chicks, and the "TRACK" is for racing.
Enter him into the no electronic bracket racing and have some fun!!

A mark 8 is a great daily driver, first car.
They are very "survivable" should they make a noobie driving mistake and run into somthing
