I have a 97 w/HID. I have highbeams in the ON position but neither of the low beams. What do I need to do to fix this? I dont think both bulbs could be burnt out? More likely an electrical issue? Thoughts please? Damon in oregon

check the bulbs first always start at the simplest solution first you could have had 1 that was out and you didnt know til the other went :headbang: :headbang:

headlights inop?

I need to know what the causes are besides the obvious "burned out" bulbs??

Ballast, some other sort of power converter, switches, relays, solenoids etc. that kind of stuff. Can someone guide me to a full electrical scematic? thanks

headlight switch or multifunction switch you need to inspect both of these and check your fuses and bulbs as far as a diagram pick up a chiltons or find one online plus go into old threads on here to lqqk for related problems

If your highbeams work when you pull the stick back - it's the multi function switch.

Similar (but not quite the same) car - my Cougar needs a new MFS every few years. The low beams stop working, and eventually the highs do too. And a 'new' mfs fixes it every time.

Ditto- similar issue on a 96 T-Bird lows went out and so did my wipers. New MFS did the job, pretty easy job, $$$ switch.

Hope it is not the bulbs! stupid expensive on Gen IIs and hard to locate.
