My Lincoln dealership is full of idiots. What should my plan of attack be?

Actually had something similar happen, where it would run fine, and then refuse to start at times. Ended up being the key itself...had a tiny crack and wouldnt start the car occasionally. Just something cheap to check out first.

Ok, so when it refused to start did the alarm go off? Mine (2002 ls V8) is also tempermental and some times just won't start and the alarm will go off too. I just took alook at the key and sure enough it has a crack in the plastic. Did changing your "bad" key fix the intermitting no start problem? Thanks in advance.

After reading more posts on starting issues I'm beginning to think it is the fuel pump.

The same thing happened to me not that long ago. The engine would turn over but not start and I couldnt figure out why. After a while I started to smell gas and figured it was the fuel pump. There is a fuel pump reset switch under the dash on the drivers side (at least on the 2001). Try pressing that button and holding it for like 5 secs. That solved my problem. I've had to do it a couple times now after jacking up only one side of the car. Don't know why exactly but it solved my problem, maybe it'll fix yours?

I would talk to the service manager before you bring your car back.

whatever the problem is, i'd agree with above.

some dealer, unfortunately, don't know what to do for reasons i don't understand. and i'm not putting mechanics down. i think its amazing that they do what they do!

but, send a letter to lincoln if that doesn't work. a well written letter will do wonders.

with the car economy what it is, and the economy in general, it wouldn't surprise me if you got it diagnosed for no cost. an that's a reasonable solution, given what you've gone through.
