Hi eveyone! I just picked up a 2002 Lincoln LSE for $2950.00 with 155k but an engine swap 8k miles ago with a 62k engine. The guy I bought it from works at a local salvage yard and they also sell used cars. When he saw the LSE come into the lot he called me and said $2950 right now so I bought it sight unseen. He said all he knew is the car was overheating. I've been thru a few spells of that already with my 00 LS so I'm confident I can fix the cooling system fairly easily. He even towed the car to my house 25 miles away for free!!
I got the car home around 1pm and changed the degas bottle and started the valve cover gaskets. When I removed the valve covers I was happy to see the all metal timing chain tensioners and what appeared to be new primary guide rails so I'm going to assume the timing chain area was overhauled. I'm thinking the metal secondary tensioners werent available by 02?? The valve cover gaskets were the new black ones but they were pinched on the passenger side by the exhaust manifold and 4 out of the 8 plug hole o-rings were installed upside down I think because they were leaking and they fell out when I pulled the cover off. So 4 oil flooded cop boots, 7 motorcraft fine point plugs, one autolite plug, 7 factory cops's, and one replaced cop come out and straight to the trash. Oh and I somehow broke the dipstick handle off with the rest of the dipstick stuck in the hole. That was fun.... I am going to order some Accel cop's and E3 plugs tomorrow and a few other goodies.
The hydraulic fan reservoir has some strawberry milk lookin stuff in it. It's a matter of time before that shoots craps so it will be coming out soon and an electric fan replacing that. It has some minor dings here and there, the front lower bumper is cracked, one fog light lense is broken but it still works, the arm rest leather is cracking, locking lugs with no key....grrrrr, and it needs a few suspension parts but I think I came across a pretty good deal.

Good pickup, car looks pretty clean outside.

Nice to see you are getting it running today and saving another LS from being retired to the parts yard forever.

I really want to see what the front bumper would look like w/o the lower "grille". I'd really like to cut that out and just have an opening. Maybe fill it with some black "CDC" type mesh grille. I think that would look sexy I just don't want it to be a fail and I'm out a front bumper.

I am going to replace the front bumper cover sometime soon. Mine is cracked all the way thru on the very bottom and the upper part looks like someone was chasing a truck down a gravel road. I have a small dent in the drivers door and two small dents in the trunk lid. The front grille and the rear surround are color matched which is a bonus. It came with the chrome pillars but I will be removing those and using black. Its a pretty clean car and I hope to have it up and running in about two weeks. Waiting on coils, plugs, electric fan, dccv, and drivers inside door handle. I ordered them last night.

You know that there is a CDC bumper that is LSE bumper without the lower grille, it just has a hole there and a cdc lower mesh piece goes there.

Nice find. The Gen1 LSE front body kit is probably worth double what you paid for that car.:shifty:

Lol I'll sell you mine. I'm Silver Frost. I'll sell my LSE front bumper to put towards the Gen2 LSE front bumper.

Your right.. You will have a really hard time finding one.. although I have a 1st gen lse bumper without the grille.. maybe the previous owner cut it off or something..

Disk.. WTF would you take your rare as hell first gen lse bumper off for a second gen!

Lol I don't know what I'm thinking. I guess I've just been drooling over Tru-Blue, Alax, and and the other silver Gen1 that did the Gen2 LSE conversion.

I just want a more updated look but to be honest I love my Gen1. I like her as$, I just feel like the headlights combined with the bumper look outdated. Maybe Gen2 headlights will hold me over for awhile.

Thats awesome that your LSE bumper doesn't have the lower grille. Does it have cut-outs like it used to be there? Or is it nice and finished and re-painted? I'm even considering just blacking out the lower "grille" so its not so dominant in the front end.

Black cars have it so much easier ;) Face's car looks great and I really think the black has alot to do with it.

I'd do it just to keep the gen1 LSE bumper safe. Put it on for shows and trailer it there LOL.

Are you talking about ME? The gen2 light make a HUGE difference. I feel like I have a new car since installing them.

Haha I was talking about you, just couldn't remember you screen name. Your the only Gen1 in silver that I've seen on here with the conversion and I love it. I even want the Gen2 LSE grille more than I want my Gen1 LSE grille. Personally I just like the 06 bumper better I guess.

I really would like to get a clean set of Gen2 headlights. Even the halogens would be fine with me. The HIDs are so expensive and at this point I don't have that much money for them. I had to sell the one I bought off craigslist for a profit to pay for some other things for the LS. Moving is a huge pain in the as$ and it sucks that its in spring. Perfect time to spend money on the car :(

Keep your eyes open for headlights then. I bought both of my used headlights & lamin-x for less than 1 brand new halogen.
