My Twinblade 55mm Throttle Body thread.

Bought some crappola on Fleabay last night, experimental stuff. Ive decided that putting a velocity stack in the TB neck is out of the question on my level unless I get a custom made one and blah blah blah, Im not doing it. Ill update this thread some more when my parts get here :D

Alright well one of the items I bought came in today. Half inch aluminum throttle body spacer for the stang, going to be using it as a flange. Came out to $24.70 shipped off Ebay, with gaskets and longer bolts, washers.

More fun stuff, picked this up off Ebay as well, $20 plus $5.70 shipping

Mustang throttle body $56 Shipped
Mustang half inch spacer $24.70 Shipped
LS throttle body plenum $25.70 Shipped

So far Im in this for about $100, I think Im going to go to a performance shop and see if they can just weld something up real quick, maybe $200 worth of aluminum/fabrication. Has anyone ever had something like this done? Just a small plenum/neck type deal or similar sized piece of aluminum?

Got on to the actual fabrication part of this in a way, started cutting some sheet metal, hacked up the extra factory neck that I bought :blah:

Any who, heres some more pics, I think if it actually comes out this first initial attempt the way as planned its gonna look pretty badass and should help out in the airflow department quite well.

I'd like to hear some opinions or something tho as this is my first time fabricating such a piece, Quik, Sully, that means you two.v

Nice. Glad to see this didn't die out.

Stock Mustang GT twin bore throttle body flows around 890cfm, been doing a lot of research and found similar ratings, one to include by Kenne Bell.

not the tb itself, but I lets u gain if u tune.

I think the throttle body itself will pick up some power and Im also going to have a custom plenum/adapter as well instead of the factory. Blew the rear end a few months ago tho so everything went on hold.

Doesn't it feels like sh!t? My car was down for a week and it felt like months.

Yea its been like 2-3 months I think. Lost my job right when it happened. I start working tomorrow tho so hopefully by the end of the month I can get my sh!t together.

Ill have it done by the end of August come hell or high water.

August 2011 :shifty:

Making slow progress, got a bunch of aluminum 4in pipe with some misc bends but the piece I wanted to "oval out" to match the TB/flange isnt working out very well so its looking like Im gonna have to use some flat stock/sheet metal for that. Comparing it to the factory setup however is pretty much day and night, the airflow should be much improved by sheer size difference and less restrictive design with the plenum adapter. Pics tomorrow hopefully, nothing is welded yet however.

The 4in aluminum pipe canNOT be ovalized/formed enough to the dimensions of the throttle body, looking like Im gonna have to break out the sheet metal again.. :( More progress by the weekend I hope.

Have you looked into having the adapter machined or is way to expensive to be considered. I have looked at trying some thing like this many times but with the inability to mount the TB with crazy extensize fabrication I haven't pursued it yet.

Due to the complexity of the adapter it would be near impossible unless you started modifying other parts as well. The only other way would be a cast piece like the stock one and that is gonna cost entirely way too much. I'm thinking of modifying the coolant neck/filler lately but haven't progressed much on the whole thing. Rebuilding the motor for my jeep seems to be taking all the spare time I have.

Okay that makes sense, looking good though. I would love to make custom stuff for the engine but I don't have the money nor do I have a welder So running around to my friends house weld, nope doesn't fit then do it all over again, can't afford that, stupid college loans
