It would be nice to know exactly what parts are called.

For example, I'm missing the rubber piece that goes in between the hood and the hood emblem.

There's a panel on the bottoms of my doors. Mine is the "Executive Series" and I'm not sure of the other models had those panels or not.

There's a molding that is directly in front of the rear wheel on the quarter panel. What is that molding called?

Does anyone have a diagram of body parts and their names or maybe a link to one?

Mine is a 2000 Lincoln Town Car Executive Series.
I need a few things for the car and knowing what years and models interchange would be very useful.

I'd love a diagram that labeled everything on the car but body/trim and interior would be great for now.

Thanks,

Wayne

The Internet is your friend.

http://www.fordparts.com/Landing/Motorcraft.aspx

You can even input your VIN for parts for that vehicle.

It will not give you the full part number, but will give you the base part number and nomenclature.

For example all oil filters are 6731, rear springs are 5560, hood is 16612 ...... etc.

FoMoCo has a unique parts numbering system and IMO a good approach that they have been using for eons. The prefix indicates the first year of introduction as well as the body style it fits, the suffix, the design edition. For example the blend door actuator for my 92 TC, like all Ford products is base part number 19E616. The full service part number is currently XW7Z-19E616-BA.

I think the base part number of the "radiator upper splash shield" you are looking for is 8C291.

Good luck.

Thanks, the part I was talking about is just the rubber peice that goes between the hood and the emblem that bolts to the hood.

I think you're talking about the panel over the radiator and condensor.

I didn't spend much time yet on that site but I did look at it. I'll check it out more when I have some more time.

Thanks again, great resourse!

Wayne

PS, Do you go by a name or just use your screen name?

The car isn't here at the moment. It's a couple of miles away. The next time I get over there I'll try to take a couple of shots of what I'm talking about.

I was at the bowling alley the other night and saw a town car with that rubber grommet thing I was talking about that goes under the hood emblem. I don't know what it's called yet, gasket, grommet, isolator? Anyway, at least now I know for sure one goes there.

This hood emblem you are speaking of does not appear to be serviced
separately, thus the underlying insulator is also not serviced separately.

That emblem is purchased as an integral part of the grill moulding (8A156).
There are 2 options when purchasing that moulding. One with red emblem
(Cartier) and one with black, all others.

Good luck.

I'd recommend you just order a new grille from Ford if you have $120 to spare. It'll be nice, shiny chrome with the Lincoln star on it, and come with new rubber. If money is tight, hit up a junkyard.

You can buy an aftermarket grille for around $40 on eBay, but it will not have the Lincoln star on it, and usually be of lower quality. (Uneven plating, rough edges, etc. etc.)
