Need a new battery

Todd,

The only place I could find was the dealer. IIRC, ~$91 with the gummints take. Brian paid ~$105 at his dealer last week.

I got mine at the dealer as well, $110. It was a non-vented one, they said the batteries have been redesigned and it didn't need to vented.

i got mine at carquest. theyre the only place i found besides the dealer that had an exact fit. it was only 89-6 dollar core charge. its 880 cca which is alot bigger than the oem battery. give them a call.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Picked up a CR2032 lithium battery at Radio Shack. My remote works great now!

Yet another stupid dealer parts guy. I got mine about a month ago. The guy made sure it was the vented type. EVERY battery gasses. Even the Optimas.

Sorry guys, just having a little fun with ya!

Seriously, the dealer parts person selling an unvented battery is a bit surprising. Makes me wonder that if what he says is true, what type of battery are the putting in the 2006 LS? Is it vented??

Just looked. It's vented!!

I need to get the battery in my '02 LS replaced, and since it's an older model year, I presume that I have to get a vented battery?

The stealership wants to charge $140 for Parts and Labor, but is it tricky to just install it myself? The regular repair shop said that they can't install the usual AC Delco type due to the vented nature of the LS design, but it seems that others on this board have installed generic batteries just fine?

So can we install "wal-mart" batteries? do they make vented batteries that you don't have to purchase from the dealership?
Or is it something that Lincoln has done that needs special batteries that you can only get from the dealership?

we must use a 'vented' battery since the battery sits in the trunk and shares air-space with the passengers.

I beleive the 750amp unit is $89 - which is not a bad price (imho)

adding $50 to swap it is silly - is takes 5 mins and a 8mm socket.

Thanks quik, now where did you buy your battery from? I was browsing the other posts here, and some mentioned a Optima red top battery which has sealed cells and negates the need for a vent tube? Is that safe?

local LM dealer. One thing to check - many LSes came with a 650amp stock - but the 750amp is the same size and not much more $$$.

the Optima design makes it leak proof and can be mounted in any position - but it still vents gases as it recharges - so you should not use it with out an additional vented battery box (Optima says in 'usual' use it should not emit gas but can).

I kill my battery so often - that I am think of going that route as well - but I have not sized the battery box yet.

Now does the stealership carry the 750 amp version?

I called my stealership and they wanted $99 for the 650amp + tax + battery replacement fee + something else..

I just thought.. YOU GOT TO BE :q KIDDING ME!!!

And mine doesn't carry the 750

Just wondering where this vent is. I had my battery changed to a yellow top and havent had any problems with it. Its basicly sealed in the truck anyway right.

Here's the info about the trunk battery.

I just bought one from the dealer, $99 and its vented. Several threads on this but I do recall seeing that the optomas DO vent. And no, the trunk is not sealed from the cabin. If it was that would probably be even worse as the gasses would build in the trunk. Get the right battery.

no - the actual LS stock battery is sealed and has a special top that allows gases to be routed out a tube - the tube then runs off that vent port and out your bumper. that way the gases never enter the car.

Your trunk is not sealed from the passenger compartment - like the engine bay is.
