Ed, I don't want to see one more reference to your idiodic towing experience. Either drop it or leave.

+1, lets have a vote,those in favor........

as for mark viii's being heavy, at 3775lbs (according to specs), mustang between 3400-3600 depending on model, a little less for camaro's, and challengers at 3700 the weight game is a myth.full exhaust, and vortech. and theyre running a $250 off special!

for now i'ill do the jmod followed by exhaust,gears/hs conv, trac loc, and tune, which iam sure is going to cost enough itself and if still not happy ill look into other options, my brother does have a built 460 ready to go but iam sure that would envolve $H!T load of fab and re design to make work, dont want to go down that road lol

whats a good size rim to run? i was wanting 18's i know ill might lose a bit on performance going with larger rim lower profile tire but its worth the sacrifice for looks in this case i think?

R-lincoln, you are not going to lose anything with 18 as you need to replicate the hieght of stock so the car knows what is going on. You can do 20s on the car as long as your hieght is close you will be good.

ya that makes sense if wheels same size, do you lose any traction off line due to less sidewall? wondering if there hard to get get good traction out marks? right now its stock and smokes tires off hopefully the trac loc helps when mor power is added

Yes bigger wheels look nicer but weigh more and have less flex in the side walls at the same height. 16" stock snow flakes with DOT bias slicks are the fastest street able combo.

31 mpg from sacramento to portland including climbing the passes and a couple minutes screwing around with a z28 (this was with the stock 3.27s)
Stock 3.27? I thought your car was a base?

Anywho OP, with a 10K budget I would get a Vortech centri and aftercooler on there, Cobra plenum, headers, H pipe, 2.5" exhaust, gears and a trak loc and tune. That should put you well into the 12's

feel pretty stupid at the moment, thought i was hooking up my tach right since my factory one gave out i had a small one laying around, put it in fron of old one hooked green wire up to a tan/y wire on one of the coils and it only reads up to 1000 rpm when car shift so what did i do wrong? obviously wrong wire not strong enough signal?

You nees an MSD tach driver. Why do you need a tach?

msd tach driver?

and ive always had tachs in my cars feel better knowing what the engines reving at after modding and adding performance parts, same with i always add an after market temp and oil gauge

I averaged 12.2 miles per gallon my last tank....but that was because I've been doing nothing but WOT runs getting my tune honed.

i just read on a google search that a 96 doesnt need an adapters only 97 up? if thats the case what wire do i hook green up to?

(update) i got it working after hooking it up to tan/s wire on one coil, and finding out on back of tach it had inputs for 123456 no 8 so i looked on site barely found any info just one part that said try setting to 2 and it worked but at idle it jumps around a bit until u hit gas

also what do these 96's rev like? average idel rpm and shift for 1-2

Man I wish I 10k to hook up my ride, must be nice.

everyone got it a little mixed up i said i want to put few thousand in and prove a point to others that it wont take over 10k to do it, iam a landscape construction guy i work my a$$ off for my money, if it werent for being able to do most of my own work i'd be screwed, hard part is having to save for so long to get parts

High 13's?? LOL Better be better then that with all that man. Gen 1's run 14.60's stock and Ken has gone 14.33 with just a cat back.

really that quick? to bad test and tune nights are over here in ontario cuz i'd be taken the mark for some base test runs in this form, if i could get car into 12's one day that would be perfect

my traction control doesnt work, its always off wont push in to turn on? but then again not a bigdeal if it dont work

haters be hatin, if you only have 10 haters, you need to figure out how to get 15 before winter

Yes really. My 95 did 14.66 stone stock in humid 80° temps.

Sorry bill. Missed your post. My car is an lsc.

Alot quicker than I'd think these freight trains would do on the quarter mile. My thought was mid 15's!

No man they boogie for sure. Piss off alot of Guys at the track with this car. You have to master the launch and shift if your totally stock.

LOL I'd like to see a bone stock Gen1 run a 14.6 I don't believe that one. And not everyone on here has a mid 13-second Mark VIII like you claim is so easy to do if you haven't noticed by checking the NA list. And with that combination, the tune setup, exhaust setup, and even choice of stall converter can make a BIG difference. Aren't you the one that said kooks headers and cobra intakes are worthless? Well I have both. That time you see in my signature is on a fail chip tune. I had to manually shift the car because the lock-up schedule is terrible and the shift points are crap. It hasn't even seen a dyno yet. But don't listen to me. I just have a slow Gen2. Too bad I didn't have a Gen1 because I'd be running 12s NA right along driller and his 5.3!

I see one guy posted a 14.66 with his Gen1. Ok, there is one car. You make it sound like the vast majority of them run 14.60s stock which is far from true.

My Gen1 ran 14.75 100% stock, do tires count? I had my 17 inch eagle VR45's on no drag radials or anything. It could have gone faster but mods got put on fast. LOL
