I'm having issues with my 2002 Lincoln ls v8 I just recently was given a 2003 Lincoln ls v8 with rod issues. Now I'm just wondering if the 2003 intake will work for the 2002 or if they are just not compatible. Also if the 2003 radiator will work with the 2002. Any help is appreciated

I'm having issues with my 2002 Lincoln ls v8 with the 3.9. I just recently was given a 2003 Lincoln ls v8 with rod issues. Now I'm just wondering if the 4.0 intake will work for the 3.9 or if they are just not compatible. Also if the 4.0 radiator will work with the 3.9 one. Any help is appreciated

Well, this just isn't making sense here. Do you also have an 2000 to 2002 S-Type?

2000-2002 LS V8 - 3.9L with fixed valve timing.
2003-2006 LS V8 - 3.9L with variable valve timing and electronic throttle.

2000-2002 S-Type V8 - 4.0L with fixed valve timing.
2002 S-Type V8 - 4.2L supercharged
2003-2008 S-Type V8 - 4.2L with variable valve timing and ETC.

All years of the LS, and both V6 and V8 use the same radiator.
No, the 03 intake is not going to work on an 02.

Mine is a 2002 Lincoln ls v8 lse with the 3.9 and select shift transmission the one I was given is a 2003 ls v8 with the 4.0 select shift transmission. I wasnt sure what the top end differences were. Also what about the transmissions?

You are not listening.
There is no such thing as an LS 4.0
All years of the LS had 3.9 for the V8!

Select shift or not makes no difference in the transmission. However, the year does. The 2003 to 2006 transmission is very different than the 2000 to 2002 transmission. Mechanically, you could swap them, but the electronics would not be able to operate them.

Where is this "4.0" stuff coming from?

I'm sorry I got confused the guy I got the car from kept telling me it was a 4.0 it didn't sound right to me but he kept arguing with me about it. So the transmissions won't interchange that kinda sucks. What's the difference between the two just the electronics?

2000-2002 - 5r55n
2003-2006 - 5r55s (synchronous shift)

Internally they are very different. The older transmission (5R55N) has an intermediate clutch. The newer transmission (5R55S) has an intermediate band. The PCM in the 2002 car will not be able to make the 5R55S work. They will not interchange.
