I have a 97 Mark VIII. I noticed that one of the low beams was not as bright as the other. A couple days later it was super dim and the day after it was out completely. Does this sound like a bad bulb or bad ballast? Thanks for any insight on what I need to replace.

Sounds more like a bulb to me. Try swapping the good bulb to the other side. If it works its the bulb .

bulb is junk, a ballast will work or not work period, a bad ballast wont cause a dim bulb, your bulb is toast. time for aftermarket and adapter rings!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

yea. i agree.. i got the adapters and want to do the conversoin allready but its to dam cold to install..but Sell the working bulb buy a decent a/m hid kit and make adapters or ask kustominzinkid to make you a pair. You might even make a few bucks depending on the kit you choose. I beleive the cheapest hid kit is around 50 bucks. If you make your own adapters out of plastic maybe a few bucks. kk makes em out of metal and are very nice, 30 bucks shipped though.

Thanks for all the input. I will probably try making an adapter myself. I work at a plastic fabrication shop so I should be able to figure something out. What style of bulb do you recommend for use with an adapter? I put a DDM tuning HID kit in my truck low beams and fog lights. I think each kit cost about $84 after shipping but I noticed my low beams have faded and aren't nearly as blue as my fog lights are. Anyone else run into this?
