Background information: Girlfriend was driving my 2003 v8 sport, and came down hard on a huge a$$ speed-bump, and now I have a leak. Of course she failed to tell me this until I saw the leak.

Power steering reservoir was low and I have to keep filling it, the fluid on the ground looks and feels like power steering fluid as well, so im 90% sure it's power steering fluid.

the leak looks like it's coming from the driver side about as far back as the middle of the front wheel. Upon inspection (I have not had a chance to put it up and take a closer look yet) the leak looks like it's coming from above and back from the pan on the driver front side.

So my questions are:

1. Power steering pump location (I have not had to tear into my engine yet so I'm not 100% sure the location of it)

2. Places to start to looking (just in case someone has had this problem before)

3. Any feedback would be great. (And no she is not allowed to dive the car now =) )

Thanks in advance,

Styles

P.S. If pictures would help let me know and I will run outside and take some.

Almost sounds like a leak at the rack, from what you described. I suppose it's possible an end seal might be torn from the shock of a harsh vertical impact, but I've never seen one go like that.

To pinpoint the leak yourself, get some UV dye compatible with PS fluid --available at most parts stores-- and a blacklight --(or see if they have a blacklight floodlamp for rent at a local rental place). Clean the area. Fill PS system. Add dye to PS, start engine, turn wheel back and forth a few times, then check with the blacklight. Where you see it glowing... there's your leak. Might have to do it a few times until the dye works itself through the system, but with a strong enough blacklight you can usually find a leak this way.

Best of luck,
