new car

car

well a few weeks turned into a few months .I had to get a few parts that i didnt expect ,control arm ,radiator had a small crack in it ,and a couple other small parts, also i bought the smoked side marker lights from that guy on ebay,i was wondering if anybody else had fittment problems with these.Im sure i can make them fit ,but they arent going in like they are supposed to.. anyways i get some pics up tommorrow.I got all the parts pretty cheap bumper and fender were free from my uncle, got the headlight on ebay for $6.50 it was all gouged up but it actually cleaned up nicer than my other one.Next up ,rims, rotors and pads. What do you guys think 18,19,or 20's..found some mesh 20's for $550 with free shipping but i really wanted 19's but cant really find anything i like in my price range..

doing bodywork for a living i would just like to let you know you may want to pull that fender and check for hidden damage.the way your hood is sitting on its lr hinge tells me your inner strut tower has most likely sustained some movement.may also want to open your hood and measure out in a x pattern checking to see if the radiator support has moved at all.measure from equal spots from rear hood hinge bolt to radiator support bolt.find a radiator top member bolt that is equal on both sides and x it out.Just my experience that the amount of force that fender took i bet money that if you remove that fender look for any broken paint on the heavier metal around the strut tower.-good luck

The way I see things, it aint a TRUE LSE without the spoiler :p

And its not worthless either! I didnt shut my trunk and it was open for 90 miles down the highway! The spoiler sat that mof where it was supposed to be until I figured it out at home.

yea i had to replace the control arm and a couple other things ,but yea i checked everything out .I knew when i bought it there would be some unseen damage but for what i got it for and what i paid for the parts i think i came out pretty good...

$1350 for the car ,fender and bumper free, paint $60 ,control arm $80 ,radiator $125 ,headlight $6.50 probally another couple hundred on other stuff i cant think of , so around $1800....

Probably the only LS owner that could actually make a profit from selling one haha. Seriously though, I would say you got a great deal. Hope you get to enjoy the car.

yea i want an 06 but i do like this one,its really clean but if a good deal comes up on an 06 im might have to sell this one.. the paint cost $60 for a quart... i painted it myself so that was free... i get some pics up later.

pics... didnt get a chance to give it a good cleaning ,turned out pretty good ,fender didnt line up perfect but not to bad..so anybody use those smoked side marker lights, dont really fit at all..i guess ill have to file them down a little bit.

For the money you have in it I guess no one could complain, I don't notice the fender not lining up as much as the obvious difference in the newly painted parts vs. the aged paint. All in all, for the money, it looks great though. Good Job.

actually the paint matched almost perfect its just the shadow. yea the fender is a little off but no big deal...

got the headlight on ebay.. so 19's are the way to go or 18's

I have 20's and my car doesn't ride like sh!t so go for it. I don't know why so many people have problems with 20's on their LS but I have had mine on for 4 years now without any problems. Good Luck!!

determines the suspension you decide to have...the sport suspension is pretty rancid with 20s and 19s do pretty good considering what tire size you but but in my choice I'd be hitting 16-18 do to the fact I don't want to sacrifice performance, mileage, and feel of my LUXURY ride just for someone to say "Hey cool, you got dubs?!" Plus I'm white so the only people who would care would be Wiggers and Asians :p

Ride quality is very subjective. For some, as long as you're not chipping teeth over bumps, it's good. I say don't do 20's. Way too played out. But it's your car. You have to look at it every day.

I say don't do 20's. Way too played out.

I think jag rims on a LS is played out, granted some of them look good on the LS but it is still a factory silver wheel with NO LIP at all. Different strokes for different folks. I just think 20's look more proportional to the car than any other size.

I'll agree. different strokes. black w/chrome lip 20's are a dime a dozen. But you aren't afraid to wear them. If you like it, more power to you.

Black with chrome lips are becoming just as played out..even mommy-vans have them :p

I have a different idea when and IF I get new wheels for my car :-D

Really?? I never see silver cars with black wheels on them. I have seen a lot of black on black combinations. Oh and like I said earlier, I have had these wheels on my car for 4 years now which is way before anybody else started to put black wheels on cars.

That may be true, but now you're just like everyone else.

Unless you feel like putting a sign in your window saying that you've had those for years before anyone else.

didnt mean to start an argument, i was just considering 20's cause i cant really find anything cheap in 19's and i found some for $550 shipped and they were the style i wanted..guess ill just wait to i find a good deal on some 19's.
