New headlights

Well I'm tired of not being able to see at night and the brownish color on the inside is only getting worse so I ordered a new set of the factory halogen housings. The HIDs were just too much! So anyways, with brand new housings do you guys think that the $180.00 aftermarket HID set ups will be bright? I dont want them to burn again, what can I do to prevent this?

The $180 aftermarket HIDs will be brigher than most HIDs that come standart on some new cars.
 
Can you drill some small vent holes in the top and bottoms of the housings?Heat rises and it might keep them cool enough so as to not burn the insides again.You might need to put a sheild in front of the holes to keep water and such out, something like a small reverse air scoop.
Maybe not but who knows until its tried!
I thought maybe even small rubber vac. hoses from the top of the lights into the intake tube so it would help pull a small amount of cool air through the lights. Maybe crazy but something has to be done.

I once was where you are now, wanting new headlights. I got new factory ones and as soon as I did a set of new HID's came up for bid on eBay. I missed out on those to GMAN. so I got hooked up with Maxx at 5 star Ford, I got the HID's and sold my new in the box one's to joeychgo. I at the time just decided to get the xtra cash somehow and get the HID's. I figured I could sell the factory one's later anyway. I am glad I got HID's they rock!!! and should have come on these car's in the first place.

You need to watch how you do those vents. You might make it into a fish bowl accidentally.

You are taking a step in the right direction. Porsche has vents in their cars that have tubes attached to them that lead to a low pressure area of the car. Result? Good venting with no condensation.

Where did you buy these after market headlights?
 
I have heard a rumor that Lincoln now has retro kits for GenIIs, new common 9006 HID bulbs new bodies and lens with a single ballast. < $700 for all...

Anyone else heard of this?
 
It's not a rumor, it's true. No ballast though. Why would you need a ballast for 9006 halogen bulbs?

Apparently, these guys are the only source where these lights are available. They are on backorder at all Ford dealers.

cool, found the other thread.

True about the ballast, didnt even think of that in my flurry of excitement that Ford actually might do the right thing, well at least something about this issue. I feel for the Gen Is I spend $$$$ every 5 years putting new lens in mu 95, may it rest in peace now.
