the car is an 01...pulled it from the top with torque converter still attached since the old motor was locked solid. after that we had to strip the old block down to get the converer unbolted. its an 80k motor from a late 02 with the upgraded chains and tensioners only thing that was different and needed swapped over was the oil cooler.me and my buddy did it in a week of half days. have 400 miles on it so far no issues or cel :)

yeah lol... kinda figured that and my girl also told me i should pull em off but trust me that they were on it along with the tint when i bought it with the engine blown up. all i did was add the rims and do the engine swap. and thought about taking the vents off but didnt want to have to repaint the fenders just yet if the paint was scratched or chipped. :D

take the cheesy shit off now!!!!!! it really does look like a buick lol, but seriously take it off and then all you might need to do is touch it up

Good job on the swap, although it was pointless since you have fender vents...... JK lol

Welcome to LVC. Nice work on the engine swap. Definitely need to remove the vents. The 22's?? You taste. Your car. As long you like them. Nice to see another Illinios guy. Where in central Illinios are you? I live across the river from STL.

im about 50 minutes north on hwy 67 of alton il in jacksonville.the color on the exhaust manifolds is more of a tarnish from heat im guessing rather than pure rust. every engine they had at the yard was like that and so was my old one so im guessing its common.

well if you are ever up this way give shout...especially in september for the cruise nite. also forgot to mention that i have spare parts galore for anyone interested. i have brand new chain with easy link and metal tensioner for passenger side that i bought brand new on a hope so, also have 8 spare coils/injectors,all sensors /water outlet/complete intake/good driver side head/valve covers/pistons/rods/cams/manifolds/bolts... so on and so forth if anyone is in need just ask have paypal and will ship.

haha, i was just joking and being sarcastic, i just want to hear what the LS sounds like with them removed :D

I don't pay attention to this much I guess, but I wasn't aware that the "late 02"s had different chains and tensioners than the rest of the first gens... can you tell me what the cut-off date is to determine if my car is an early or late 02?
thanks

Well the build date on the car the engine came out of was 01/02/02. every other 02 car they had out there were actually made in early to middle of 01. i should have taken pics of the difference in the chains and tensioners from my 01 to the 02. im sure the build date of the car doesnt mean the engine was made the same day or anything , so with that said im sure if your car is an 02 it has the revisions and also after what ive seen id never buy a 00 or 01 car and rely on it to last. the 02 has more of a crosshatch style primary chains that look very stong and the metal tensioners with just plastic on the ends for guides. the 01 engine i pulled had more of a motorcycle looking primary chain and all plastic tensioners which is no wonder why it had failed very miserably and sent a valve thru the piston.

interesting. I wonder if Lincoln ever publically released the info that timing chain/timing chain tensioners were upgraded in '02?

Good job on the swap and thanks for the pics of it. I am suprised that you needed to do the swap. Don't the side vents compensate for the drop in performance from a blown engine?

i really dont mind the vent :q:q:q:q talk, but atleast have some pics loaded of your own car first to prove it isnt all ragged out. but really the point of this whole thread was that when you look for a replacement engine for your 00 or 01 for some reason they say its those two years only and they are $1300-$2000 and was told by several yards that the 02 wont work (even tho its the same gen). this prettymuch speaks for itself and only paid $900 for it and if in a pinch they can be had with more miles for $650 and theres definately alot of nice 00's and 01's out there that can be bought cheap blown up and brought back to life. that is of course if you have the time/patience/skills/and tools.
