I recently bought a 2000 LS V8 for a very reasonable price on May 9, 2009 well since then I have noticed that with the high mileage on this car it wasnt taken care of very well... i was told when i bought the car that it was taken care of and had regular visits to the nearby ford dealer to keep it in shape. shortly after buying this car i started in on the repairs. The first day i owned it under my own personal rules i bought all new tires including spare, new ceramic brake pads, all 4 rotors, and new lug nuts due to the fact you never know how it was driven or if there may be broken belts in the tires. then on the third day i owned it i noticed a miss, so new plugs and complete set of coils. on the seventh day when i would come across new pavement joints i could here a thunk noise. so after inspection on the eighth day purchased new swaybar, swaybar endlinks, knuckle head assymblies L&R with the upgraded balljoint size (upgrade was end of 2002 year i think due to 16mm balljoint failures), tie rods, and tie rod ends. after that the car drove fine for a period of time then on June 8, was on my way to work and the car stopped pulling all together, no reverse or drive. So i took it to a ford authorized transmission shop and had the trans completely rebuilt everything is new except the casing. after i got it home from the transmission shop, that day on the way to fill the tank up i noticed a small vibration in front drivers side wheel after a few miles it gotten worse until it is now a full blown roar, needless to say after i inspected it the wheel bearing is worn out. As of tomorrow i will have the complete suspension replaces and all the wheel bearings. Also everything purchased is straight from my own pocket, no warranty, and the dealer wouldn't allow me to purchase any type of such either. the only reason i wont get rid of this car is because i love these cars. i owned a 2002 LSE a couple years ago and made the mistake of selling it. it has already been hit in a parking lot and has a scuff on the front bumper from it before the end of the summer months i intend to have the car completely repainted back to the factory color and all the chrome replaced.
Along with the repairs i have installed a complete audio system with a new pioneer single din deck, all speakers replaced with alpine type s, a crunch 1600.1 amp, power acoustic 10 Ferad capcell, two memphis PR series 12's, and a dual set of memphis line drivers. this car has a clean clear sound to it w/o the nasty distortion or rattles.
this car is my weekend ride. my current DD is my daily project 95 Ex that was in a lot worse condition when i bought it, currently getting prepped for paint on the first set of sunny days that we get.
the car is dirty in the pictures due to the fact that it has rained every other day here since the first of may.
