Ok, so I bought a new HVAC Head unit for my 2001 LS, but how do I program it? The bottom of my old unit says that it needs to be programed if I put in a new one. When I put in my new one it dosn't make any air come out of the vents no matter what I set the fan on.

Does anyone know how I should program one.

Thanks!!

Unless you have access to a NGS/Hickok tester w/ the the right cards you'll have to take it to the dealer. You will need to put the old one back in so they can retreive the info on it and transfer it to the new unit.

Is this a first gen only thing?

I replaced my HVAC control in my 04 because for some reason the LEDs that lit up the red parts of the buttons died. I just plugged it in and it worked.

Yeah, I'm curious to know also. Does anyone know how much that should cost?

Thanks

I would be that you replaced yours w/ one from another LS. New units need to be programmed.

Call your local dealership, but I would figure they will charge you at least 1 hours labor($75 and up). Did you put the old unit in self-test mode to make sure it needed replaced? If so, what were the DTC's that were displayed?

Mine gave me a 2477 code, I would have to take that to the dealer anyways to fix. I was trying to not have to spend money at the dealer if possible. I can try to get a used unit from another 2001 LS, would that need programing? The one I bought and tried I can return and it was from a 2002 LS. (maybe that is why it would need to be reprogramed.

The 2477 code is a module configuration failure, the remedy listed in the factory manual is to reconfigure the module. The original module may not be the defective. Certain modules need to be programmed when other parts in the system are replaced because the parameter values have changed. The codes(B2477 & P1639) indicate that some necessary data has not been programmed in the module.

Was everything working fine and then just quit, or were other parts in the system replaced? I know that some people have changed out modules from similar LS's(Same engine, options) w/ no problems, but
some modules like the DATC & DSM rely on the potentiometers on the electric motors for correct operation and if there is a big difference between switched out parts the system throws a code.

No new parts that I am aware of cause this error. The error has been going on before any significant changes to the car.

Would the 2477 error code cause me to have no heat? I'm trying to figure out the problem. There are no air bubbles in the coolant.

Unplug the connector to the DCCV. You should get full heat. If you do, then the DATC (or its programming) might be the problem.

Where is the conector to the DCCV? Is it hard to get to and will it take a long time.
