So ive had my 95 Lincoln Mark VIII for about 4 months now, still stock, and in wonderful condition(aside from someone hitting me in a parking lot a few weeks ago and breaking my headlight)
I love this car, 109,734 miles all original. Lucky for a 19 yr old right?
i want to lower it, whats the best way to do it?

Easiest thing on the planet! It took me 4 months before I sensor lowered my car. I felt stupid when I found out how easy it was. It took me about 30 minutes to do the whole thing & I even took my time re-drilling higher holes for my front sensors. You will be shocked @ how easy it is!

Jack it up in the back and on the drivers side, you'll see the height sensor. Look up in there and you'll see a 12mm bolt. Loosen a little and tap the bracket upward about 1 inch away from the top or move up about 1/2"

11mm in the front. Move brackets only, not the little mounting ball.

Thinking about sensor lowering today.how long does it take to take affect? I read in another post it could take up to a week to lower itself to what you put it. Or was I reading it wrong? That sounds like they could have been talking about a leak though.

Its an active system. It will take effect immediately.
Also. Make sure to turn off the air ride switch in the trunk before lifting the car.

and get it aligned afterwards too, lowering it will change every angle, just dont tell the shop you lowered it or they might get bitchy

Take off the back wheel on the drivers side and you will see it.
There is only one sensor for the rear.

Lowering my Mark VIII

Hi, I am new here and was hoping to get some help from you experts!
I just bought a Mark VIII LSC from 1995, white and I just love the car!

But I want to lower it, simply because it looks great like that!

The brackets in front and the one in rear on drivers side, should I just "move" them higher up, i.e. from the ground? Or is it the Mounting Stud?

Just to be sure, in front of the car, is it the lower bracket/the bracket closest to the ground I should be working on? Not the upper bracket?

I did try to look at the pictures here in:

http://www.lincolnvscadillac.com/tech/lincoln-mark-viii/Sensor-Lowering/index.htm

But I must say, I am not 100% sure how to do this.

Have you experience any problems in the Air Suspension when lowering the car? In my car, the front air bags and the air pump-unit have been replaced (from used car) Does this affect the suspensions ability/function at all?

I appreciate your help on this.

PS I did send PM to some of you, but error occurred, I received the message: " Your PM box is 100% full" I have 1 message in Inbox and 4 in Sent items. What is the limit? What can be done here....

On the front you raise up the lower mount. The upper mount is a ball stud on the upper control arm which cannot be adjusted. You will see the lower ballstud and bracket on the car. This one you have to move up(.IE drilling or slotting bracket). For the rear you have to extend the sensor to lower car. You will find the bracket that mounts to body and adjust that one. Tons on here have sensor lowered there cars. You can get into some problems like air bag leaks from bags being in a different spot then normal.

Thank you very much for your reply.
Is it common to get into these air leaks?
IF I get air leaks, I will have to replace the air bags? Or can I adjust it back to old settings and no leak?
I have seen many suspension kits for the Mark VIII, is there any kit I could buy (IF I get air leak) that would lower the car? If so, pls inform which one to buy.
Thanks.
