wats up guys....I just bought a used Lincoln LS V6 as my daily driver...any tips on performance or how to maintain it the right way??...I want to change the spark plugs, wiring, front break pads as well, what are the brands to get??...any advice is appreciated...thanks

Congrats, these are great cars. Spark plugs are hard to change on V6 and there are no wires. How many miles? As far as front pads go I suggest NAPA premium ceramix pads. That is what I used on mine (front & rear) no dust, no noise!!

wat??? these cars dont have wiring? well I learned something new, haha....it has 85,000 miles...which spark plugs are recommended??

if you are going to replace the spark plugs, my advice is to replace all the ignition coils (8) as well and install new valve cover gasket kits on each side.
its the only way to be sure you won't get a misfire in 10,000 miles

Um wouldnt it be (6)?;)

I got the V8 so most of that I cant answer but I would go with the EBC brakes, both red or green are good but the green is a bit tacky.....YUCK! so I got the red:D

Funny. No spark plug wires. Each spark plug is connected to its own coil.

Which V6? What year?

is there a site where I can find parts for my Lincoln or do I have to go down to a local Advance AutoParts or Auto Zone??

cool site...I was looking at it but I couldn't find spark plugs...wat are the best plugs for a V6?

Hope you enjoy your new toy! Do not, I repeat DO NOT use Bosch Platinum plugs. I run Motorcraft platinum (dealer recommendation). Also, learn to work on your LS. The dealer charges like $1000 here to change valve cover gaskets. Search EBAY for the coils (remember no distributor). The dealer charges over $100 a piece for them. I don't know about the v6 but they HAVE to be replaced on the v8. Search the forum. Everybody here is pretty cool. Some of us have decent knowledge about these cars.

Go to Team Ford for the OEM parts. They have an ad on the right side of the forum, right above the LS Koncepts ad. (I think Ken carries some OEM parts at LSK, but Bill carries them all at Team Ford.) You can't go wrong with either of them.

On my 01 V6 only time I had my plugs with coils changed was at 100,200 miles (now 139,840 miles). Use the OEM stuff, you don't need to change gasket on the V6. For the brakes I use the ceramic brakes from Pepboys and they are GREAT, no noise and zero dust. Some people used em and are not happy with em, but these are my 3rd set, I had EBCs before and didn't like em, they were dusty.

Other than that, I use Mobil 1 5-20, changed evey 5000-6000 miles, Mobil 1 filter. If your engine is working fine I wouldn't worry about the spark plugs. They are king of hard to change, you need to remove the intake manifold to get to the left three.

Other than that great car with nice handling.

sorry to jack the thread but whats so bad about the bosch plugs?

they are not motorcraft. i replaced all 4 coils on one side (WITH STANDARD COILS) when only 1 was misfiring. got the car back, and not only was it still missing one cylinder it was throwing tons of other misfire codes for the other cylinders, switch to motorcraft coils and it ran great that day. if you are going non-motorcraft i strongly suggest use anything but that Standard bullsht

thanks alot for the info bro....is there a way I can tell which coil is misfiring that way I can only change one, or do I have to change all of them?? cus they're a pretty penny.

Ouch! I would say that you would rather want to change all of them while you are at it and inspect the plug wells and everything around them and incojunction to them very well.

If you can not afford it I would at least try to clean everything up nice around all the plug wells and everything else. The one(s) that is damaged should be noticable.

I had went in to have 2 replaced and that went well for a bit but then it happened again, that time I made a request to have all 8 replaced and I have never had the problem yet since. All this was coverd under warranty by the way.

Some times you can get away with just one but i thik in some cases you may need to change them all.

Keep your regular maintenance and oil change and parts are really cheap on eBay and will save you a tone of cash and I would recommend using the brands tailored around that specific car good luck
