Ok maybe someone can tell me, today I looked at a 93 Mark 8 with 110000 miles on it. Everything seems to work except A/C not as cold as I would like, and the car was pretty much on the ground, air bags I think. Seemed like normal wear in interior. $1000 Think its a good deal?? Also cost on air bag replacement or posable upgrade. I plan on getting this as a pure toy. I want a hot rod lincolin for real. I would like to see 10 sec 1/4 mile with A/C and total plush, sleeper. Plan on maybe droping 10G to get there. Am I being realistic?? All input wanted, needed, apreciated.

~500 for a complete coil conversion kit to replace the bags....

To get to the 10's your gonna need engine, tranny, and rearend work. Not entirely impossible but will be ALOT harder to do than a mustang or anything else like that.

1000, does'nt sound too bad, but be forwarned, 1000 dollar marks have always got a problem or two that is gonna rear it's ugly head sooner rather than later.

Welcome to the site, and I hope you reach your goal.

Maybe - if you do the work yourself and watch very very close for deals / used parts.

To get there, at the minimum you'll need a tranny, vortech, gears, high stall torque converter, exhaust - thats $10k right there if you buy it all new and have it installed by a mechanic. Your engine doesnt have a forged crank, so you'll likely need to rebuild the lower half. Thats another $4k for the short block.

$15k is a more realistic goal to get in the 10s. Now if you do NO2, maybe you can save the vortech.

By the way 349.00 is the GOLD membership price. Otherwise it's 500.00.

I bought mine from Eddie for $400 without the gold mem price. But you might need a few tools so it'll be $500 anyway.

Not if you are a gold member! My kit cost me $350 to the door, and easy to install. $30 to be a gold member and I saved over $300 already with parts from vendors.

If you want 10's you are going to do a lot of work. But the guys on this site will help you get there. 13's - 12's are more practical with simple mods.

If you plan on doing a lot of mods and work on the car $1000 is not a bad buy

I do plan on doing the work myself. I am not the greatest mechanic, but I enjoy working on cars. I have a few small projects under my belt and would like a fun sleeper that I can be comfortable in.

You'll also need another grand or so for miscellaneous repairs for the next 40k miles. You're buying a 93 mark during the tiime when it starts falling apart and nickel/diming you.
