Arnott sells a complete conversion kit to eliminate the Air bag system and replace it with coil springs. Is this a good option? Has anyone tried it? Do you get warning messages when you disconnect the air ride system afer you have put the coil springs in? Please advise.

There are quite a few Companys that offer that option, I did it to my 94 Mark, the handling has been greatly improved ( but I had a new 1 1/4" rear sway bar installed at the same time ) my car was lowered 1 1/2 " as well, the message center still says check air susp, but a simple push of the button every time you start the car takes care of that. There IS a wire on the other side of the glove box that you can cut to eliminate the message center coming on, but I chose not to cut it, lol with my luck it would cause more of a problem. Overall it was a GREAT mod........good luck w/ yours

I have installed several "kits" lately. The BEST one I have seen so far, is from American Air Suspension.

The instructions are clear, and helpful, the ride is phenominal, and the customer service/support is second to none.

I'd rather pay an extra $25 knowing the product is superior, the company is top-notch, and I am supporting one of the best vendors the Lincoln community has ever seen.

If/when you go to install the coil conversion, PLEASE....private message me. I have very detailed instructions, with photos, and offer online-help. I also have quite a few "options" I can tell you about as far as other parts recommended while doing the conversion to save time/money in the future.

Good luck in your decision...BTW, I have both air ride, and coils. I know the difference. I know what I prefer, but your opinion(s) may vary.

My 94 is a back-roads machine(slung low, on coils)
Our 97 LSC is a comfort cruiser, but gets its behind handed to it by my 94, on the twisties!

I want to do the conversion. Question: Should I also replace the shocks and mounts while I'm under there anyway? Also, would I be better off getting a Lincoln dealer to do the conversion, or will my trusted mechanic do just fine?

Thanks!
