Hey everyone, just found this site trying to find an answer for my stereo install. I have a 1994 Mark w/ 45k miles, it's got the Jbl sound system and I decided to go with an alpine head unit. I bought the amp integration harness to see how it would sound before I went replacing all my speakers. The problem is I get no sound from any speakers, if I barley insert the RCA I get some sound but once it goes in all the way nothing, it's like it shorts out, I'm sure someone has encountered this before, any help would be appreciated.

:W to :V

well, i used this in my 93.

Dump anything factory re-wire the whole mess.
It will sound so much better then the JBL.

Its old....

I have that harness as well but how would that work with the factory amp, if I wire those with that harness I would be hooking the decks amp to the speakers, what I used was the same plug but with rca's, it just doesn't work.

I agree, I just am having a hard time justifying spending 600 + install fees around $300 on a car I paid 3k for that I'll probably sell in a few months, if I get this jbl stuff to work I can yank my deck and return it to stock.

The remote wire is hooked up, like I said I get audio if I barley insert the RCA, once it's in all the way nothing.

Looking up at Chris's attached photo, there are two connectors. One is the rectangular connector which supplies the power, ground, etc.. The square connector has all the speaker wires. You should just match the colors to your radio. Now, if you've done all of this, and you still don't have any sound, that means your factory amp is shot, and you wont get anything. Which means total rewire.

So what your telling me is, to use the alpines built in amp, by wiring to the deck I in sense am using it, that then routes to the jbl amp which then feeds the speakers, wouldn't I need the amp bypass harness then. My amp isn't shot, it's working now with the stock deck I put back in.

Am I missing something here because I feel like I don't get this concept, I know it's not rocket science and this isn't my first stereo install.

Your not gaining anything keeping the factory amp.
I just don't understand how it would cost you 9 bills for a install.

You have installed stereo's before.
The new stuff sounds so much better.
Buy some half ass speakers, gut and rewire.
It will help sell this gen one when your tired of it.

This is been covered so many times.

Alpine 6.5 components x 2 $279, alpine amp $300, install kit around 50, and labor to install around $250, anyways I hooked it up to the other wiring harness and it works great, I still don't understand how it's working, doesn't make sense but oh well

That would be a install for a car to keep not sell.
You might keep it after you drive it for a while.

At least you got it working, if your happy that all that counts.
The factory wiring is a complete nightmare.
There is complete diagram at the dot org site if your curious.

Yeah it actually sounds better than the factory stereo did, I think it'll do for now, I'd love to swap to new stuff but I'm having a hard time justifying it considering I'd never get it back and I couldn't go cheap as it would bother me, I'd like to get some saleen wheels but I know I'd never get that money back in a sale and I think I'd have a hard time selling them privately, anyways I'll post a new thread with some pics of car shortly, this site is much better than the .org site.

.org sucks....most of us are banned from there :)

FWIW you will never get your money out of that car or any car for that matter.
Mod it for your own taste and enjoy it.

I know you never get back what you put in but with this car I don't think I could recoup anything, I think I'll leave it stock until I get the itch to buy another Mustang, I think I'll try a 4v this time though, I'm really impressed with this motor.

Okay I didn't want to start a new thread so I'll bring this back...Anyways I'm having this problem with my car, I have the square black speaker plug with the gray power, constant, ground plug. I have installed radios before so I'm not a noob at this stuff only with this car. From what I can tell it does NOT have the factory amp I looked in the back shelf in the trunk and its not there. I wired everything up color coded. I'm not getting any sound from the speakers, the power antenna wont rise, even though I connected the power antenna output from the radio to the blue wire coming from the gray harness. Do I need to tap and splice something for the antenna to power up. this is more sounding like I have the amp but its not there and it needs to power up for the speakers to work?

Thanks
Jim

Like they said above, rewire the speakers! I had the same problem no sound from the speakers but the radio worked. I got some cheap speaker wire and redone the whole car, will replace the small wire with heavier wire when it's time.

Well I got the right connectors and it works fine now...but I have another issue when I installed the new radio the antenna cable, the connector at the end where it connects to inside the radio broke it was fragile anyways is there a way that I can order or maybe buy the Oem cable. Or Will I have to buy the 12ft extension cable and get an adapter for one of the ends? Cant seem to find the male to male cable.
