correct but i have to vouch for my hid's and say that the output is far superior than that of my old halogen ones. while i do agree with Jwerner about the higher the kelvin the less output it produces but that's not to say that it's dimmer or distorted in any way. all it means is that although the hid's you may have are bright, had you gone lower on your kelvin scale it would've been a lot brighter (i'm not talking about anyone in particular, general talk). i'm not trying to start an argument or anything, all i'm saying is, if someone wants to get hid's and someone tells them that hid's don't produce good visibility output then maybe that info is not correct in it's entirety. if someone skeptical then lower kelvin is recommended.

How do you figure it is not D.O.T. approved when they put HID's factory in the LS's and they use the same headlight assembly? You can put HID's on a go-kart as long as the lights themselves are approved by the D.O.T.

I agree. the output of HID's is far superior to stock halogens in nearly all cases.

I don't think they use the same assembly. I can only base this on what has been discussed earlier, but the halogen reflector housing is different than the HID reflector housing. They have different ways of focusing the different types of light. I've always wanted to compare them side by side, or even confirm it with a Lincoln "engineer".

Slick even proves the basis of common sense wrong as in the fact where if you walk into a room with blue lights is it going to have more visibility than one with standard lighting?


I don't understand why he feels the needs to argue about his rice blue lights anyway.

It is not the HIDs that are not approved, it is the add on HID kits that fail to meet specifications. Factory HIDs that are DOT approved are very expensive. The add on kits add bulbs and ballast to stock reflectors. Most actually say right on the package "for off road use only". In the real world, it is not likely that anyone is going to give you grief over the add on kits. But don't fool yourself, if you ever have an accident that is even remotely headlight related and the opposing lawyer finds out, he/she will make a big deal about non DOT approved lights on your vehicle. I will also join those that warn that higher Kelvin rated lights do not light the road as well as those in the proper range. The higher the Kelvin the more purple the lights appear and the less light that emitted in the visible range.

Listen here BOY...you need to quit hating because you can't afford the things you would like on your LS but me on the other hand can afford whatever I want to do to mine. Just for your information the 12k's and not even a rice blue color more or less a burple color. 10k's are the blue ones so once again before you try to call someone out please know what you are talking about.

Well I am sorry to inform you that the kits that I have on my car clearly stated on the box that they are DOT approved so I don't have to worry about anything. I also agree with you and everyone else about the higher the Kelvin the less light it emits but I like the look of 12k's. My roommate has a dual HID setup on his maxima with the 8k's and mine project light just as far as his does so I don't really see a big difference in them...mainly just in color of the light that comes out.

hahaha...by the time you catch up to me with your LS I will be driving an AMG Mercedes. I know you are not calling me poor because you are the forty year old TRYING to deck out his LS and I am 25 and been having mine like this for 3 years so whos doing better than who....hahahahahaha one day you will know what its like to have money....hahaha if you keep working everyday until you are 90 you might catch up to me...hahaha loser

Sorry about that man....I like your car now that you took off those exhaust tips...I would pass on those rims though and just keep looking around you will find the right rim for the right price...keep up the good work and keep us posted with new pictures when you change something up

Damn dude the truth must really hurt for you to just make up things...I don't know where you get that I work at a paint/body shop because actually I am a full-time student working on my degree so your source is definately wrong buddy and I am just stating the facts that you are forty with kids...Am I not correct? As soon as I get my degree I will be getting a Mercedes E55 AMG so I already know I will have one...when I get it I will send you pics...hahahaha
