New to Mark's and this place!

Nice looking 8 , I like the look of the 5 spokes on it.

On the heat issue, I also would say that it is the blend door actuator too. It is a very well known issue with the 97-98 models. The actuator rod is made of plastic and and cracks up the rod itself and can not rotate. It is a expansive job for one to do alone, requires the extraction or dropping of the whole dash.

There is a way around it though, it you pull the glove box down all the way and look to your inside left, toward the bottom you will see a gray actuating lever, to get the heat to work, take a 10-12" piece of wire and loop it around the lever and twist the wire till you have a extension of the lever. When you start the car, turn on the heat at high at first, then pull the wire towards the passenger door , the lever should move back and open the door for heat, if you leave it on high or medium high, the door will stay open as long as you need it. The wire can just hang there until next time or you can tuck it up out of the way for next time. This is a fix until you or someone else can do this correctly. The last time I had this done on my previous Mark, it cost me 800.00 in labor at the stealership. Next time I will do it over a weekend myself, now that I know what to do.

welcome, awesome looking gen 2. as far as your heat, i'm going against everything everyone said, you mentioned it does have heat just weak, well, if the blend door is broken it wont have heat it will be cold, and you said it does flip over to cold also, if you get heat but it is weak it sounds like all you need to do is wiggle the blower motor harness like every other gen 2. start the car and turn the heat to max defrost and go under the glove box and wiggle the orange and black harness that goes to your blower motor and see if you get full blower and heat. i wish you were closer if it turns out ot be the blend door i can knock them out in an hour now i showed my great 8 in his car!!

He's coming to my shop tomorrow! I talked to him on the phone and what maksitfaster was describing didn't seem like a blend door to me.'

me either i think his blower motor harness isnt making contact with the pins on the plug, thats my guess!

or the "blower motor speed controller" is smoked. its a 100 blower motor resistor more or less. it is easy to pop open and check for corrosion (i went through 2 of them) started with odd blower function then it just stopped all together

Again guys thanks for the warm welcome! Canadians will one day completely take over & you won't know until it's already happened...;) I gotta say, there are some seriously sexy cars in those sig pics. Nice work. Gotta get mine lowered for summer. As I mentioned earlier the car does make heat, just not real hot out of the vents. The blower seems to work fine too. Speed increases & decreases as asked. It does clear the windows & if I'm driving long enough it does eventually warm up enough to be comfortable. Also if I'm sitting in traffic for say 25 mins. the cabin temp climbs. It's also been about -10 F up here the past few days.A heater needs to put in overtime in these temps. I had a similar problem with my Fleetwood & back flushing the heater core solved the issue. Doesn't take much crap in there to hamper the efficiency.A long time ago I learned to start checking the easy stuff then work your way to the hard (ie. expensive) stuff. At $800 to fix the blend door, it might work out cheaper to drive to florida! Maybe I just need to get my Memphis Belle's & idmax 12's setup in the car. 2500 watts makes a fair bit of heat and the 12's should move the air around...:D

Couple more pics just cause I can....

Special canadian welcome

We do have an extra surprise for new Canadian members at LVC.

I got it from Peperman so thank him. :)

Slick car! Love it, especially that sub setup you got in the trunk. That's clean!

Welcome to the LVC forum! That's one of the nicest gen 2's I've seen in awhile. The heated seats are a nice option, very rare. The only one I've seen with heated seats around here is mine.

did 1st gens come in a similar color? i've seen one in a color like midnight grey, but only one...

It's called Midnight Opal. I have a 93 Mark VIII with the color it's really nice and unique.

Well just got back from paying a visit to fastmark's shop. Did a full (and then some) coolant flush and a crankcase full of amsoil's finest. I am happy to report that she now belts out the heat! I had to turn it down on the way home! Also got to have a look underneath and was real happy with what I saw there. Turns out I have an x-pipe with magnaflow's!
Nice! That means I can simply move on to other stuff. Time to start shoppin!
Fastmark went out of his way to make sure my girl got top notch treatment. Thanks bro, I really appreciate the special treatment. We closed the place!

Hey Joey, looks like you can't go wrong with our color & chrome 5 spokes! I just need to get mine singin like yours.
