New to the Lincoln Mark VIII

I'm new to the Lincoln Mark VIII. I have always loved the looks of 'em. Never paid to much attention. Always wanted a Cadillac... Until I saw one for sale. Now I ask...
The one I'm looking at is a "rose" colored '93. 2500.00 or B.O. 80,000miles. The guy said he will take off for the tires and alt cuz it needs em. He just had a new tranny put in. To rebuild the one he had was about $4000.00. So he bought a used tranny for $1000.00 with 80,000 already on it.
How are these tranny's? Is this guy full of B.S.? Am I going to need to replace the tranny again, and if I do will it cost me $4000.00? I need to have another project car but is the tranny a weak link?
Any info would be greatly appreciated. Thanks guy/gals

Talk to Geno at LMS. He offers a high performance for I believe $1600.00 installed and I have heard it is a killer setup. I will be getting one of his put in my 94 as soon as I get all of my paperwork back from the DMV.

A friend of mine just had her's rebuilt for $1,400.00, it depends on what you would want done to it, :W to :V :Beer

$1,000 for a used tranny? There is someone selling a 30,000 mile one on another site for $300.

I might still buy it... I might still be abke to pick it up for 1500. Not a bad investment I guess...right?

Transmissions can cost anywhere from $1,000 - $2000 installed - Thats ranging from stock rebuild to a higher performance new replacement transmission. IMO, the best move is to spend the $1600 with Lincoln motorsport and have a new transmission installed, because you'll likely never have a transmission problem again after doing so.
