Newt Gingrich for President

With that said, Gulliani has a shakey family history (-very), McCain's record isn't perfect, Newt isn't any saint... with that said, Romney is supposedly a saint.

Im Catholic, and I dont see him on my church wall anywhere, so he's no saint.

Fact is, we're a society that likes to gossip and exploit the flaws we find in other people.

Well, I doubt he'll ever achieve Catholic sainthood, considering he was raised Mormon.... -but, obviously, I was speaking in public figure/politician terms. I haven't been able to find any personal character failures for him so far.

So having an affair isn't a personal character failure? Is this official Republican doctrine? If that's the case, I better get in on it...LOL I'm sorry, but unfaithfulness IS a character flaw. The Bible says a thing or two about it as well. I'm pretty sure Fossten might even agree (for the 2nd time in his life) with me on this one!

And what of these Ethical Violations?? http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-srv/national/longterm/gingrich/report/part_i.htm

Good reply. Both of you. But isn't having an affair with someone 23 years younger than you also qualify as "chasing women"??

Are you referring to Clinton and Monica? In that case, the age difference is 30 years. She was 20 and he was 50. That borders on statutory rape, 3 years removed.

Did you even read the full text? You don't know the contextual history around that investigation. It's true that they found some sort of unethical issue with Newt, but that was the sixty-third attempt on the Democrats' part to do so. So far they had come up dry. Yes, that's right, they had investigated him sixty-two times, trying to find anything that would stick to the wall. And by the way, when this came up, he did resign as speaker. At least he has the integrity to do that. Not so much Harry Reid, Mr. Land Deal, and William Jefferson, D-La, Mr. Cold Bribery Cash, just to name two. Guess what? They are still in Washington doing their corrupt deals.

Are you done bashing Newt? I noticed that you have ceased playing both sides and are now going straight for Newt's jugular. You can't hide your bias.

I'm not a fan of Newt. Only because he's guilty of doing things that don't fall within the so-called family values he has touted in the past.

Don't you think adultery is a moral and character flaw, Fossten?

I think it's a sin. Period. It's only a character flaw if you do it habitually. You should read up on character traits before you propose straw men like that.

Were you a fan of Clinton? If anybody had a character flaw of adultery, it would be him.

Regard to personal character failures- I was not referring to Newt Gingrich, I was making that comment referring to Gov. Mitt Romney.

Gingrich's history demonstrates that his personal life is not perfect, I think I addressed this pretty honestly earlier in the thread.

Fossten has addressed the "violation" you mention. Important to note, when Newt orchestrated the Republican revolution, the Democrats and their hatchet men pulled out all the stops to ruin him. From smears, personal attacks, and frivolous investigations. Remember when he negotiated a book contract, only to see the Liberals outraged? He gave back his advance. But when Hillary negotiated an even large deal a few years later, they said nothing. My point, Gingrich has been attached by the whole of the liberal establishment.
