No more LS.

Velo, I don't know when you bought your M3, but mine is an 09 and all service for the first 5 years is included. No matter the milage, including oil changes, tire rotations what ever normal service you come across. And it has a 60,000 mile power train warranty. Not to bad, so that 40 dollar a bottle stuff is included, but I won't have this car before the 5 years is up. Not really digging the convertable.

I agree with a 2009 you are covered. As with BMW, Mercedes Benz and Audi I find them grosly overprized an when I visited the factory a few years back I did not noticed any different assembly technique than in North America.
Enjoy the M3, my friend just bought a 2008 coupe and enjoys it very much.

Goodluck with your new Kia

The LS is a fine car. Mine has cost me a fortune in time and money, but the silky smooth ride and great looks keep me coming back. Someday she will be retired, had her since 01 brand new. Goodluck!

The reason you do not know the term is that it is used in England by people who put cars and bikes together with parts from different makes, like Ford and Jaguar who put the Lincoln LS together
I agree the Lincoln looks better but I did get a hell of a deal and will save on repairs and parts I am sure.

Well, EVERY manufacturer does that except the one-off brands. I would imagine you would fine BMW switch gear in RR (or is it Bentley BMW owns?) and VW stuff in Porsche's. If you want to get down to brass tacks, everything made by Ford (Lincoln, Merc, Ford, (then) Jag, LR, etc.) has a Ford part number. Same with GM. Cars made by the same manufacturer aren't cobbled together from different makes. Ford and Jag didn't put the LS together, they are siblings, not red-headed step children. Is a Lexus ES a pieced-together Toyota? An Acura RL a pieced-together Accord?

Kia......Lincoln. 'Nuff said.

I agree some manufacteres do that but the LS is basicly a Jaguar with a Lincoln badge and you have to agree they are not a well accepted car and only made for 6 years with plenty of problems. About part numbers of course they are Ford part numbers but most of the parts do interchange with Jaguar parts. Ford is not that stupid to use the Jaguar numbers.
Anyway I did like the LS but by now it is just an old model and the used car prices reflect that. The only one above $10.000 is maybe a 2006 with low miles, even with low miles the warranty is most likely expired.
I do wish all the members good luck with their LS but one has to move on eventually. ;) ;) ;)

In regards to the question by LS4me about the Acura. In most of the rest of the world there is no Acura only Honda.
Only North America with their big markets use the special Acura brand but next time you look at an Acura you will notice all the windows are marked Honda.
I also think the Kia Amanti has a much smoother ride that any LS but before you answer that first drive one and than comment.

Actually, cost was the reason the LS was discontinued. The platform was too expensive for the low sales volume. The problems you read about are exaggerated. people only come to message boards to complain, not sing praises. Of the 275K or so LSes sold, how many come here (or elsewhere) to complain about a problem? The used values are pretty reflective of the sales (not sticker) prices and not out of line. The used LS we bought cost about 50% of the selling price vs. the ~33% of sticker. Not too bad. If you want to move on and not drive the car into the ground (I do) then leasing is the best way to always have a new car.

drive one and than comment

That will never happen. I'm done with FWD appliances. I enjoy taking the 25mph on ramp at 50mph way too much. There's nothing like a 4-wheel drift. I also don't want a car that looks like some old codger should be behind the wheel. I might be over 50, but I still like my cars to look sporty. The LS looks, IMHO, as good today as it did when I bought my first one almost 10 years ago. In fact, we still have that LS. It's my daughter's now and has almost 170K miles.

To each their own and whatever makes you happy.......

I've developed a mindset in which I....

Never like a vehicle with a motor thats mounted sideways!

There is a reason true performance cars are rear wheel drive (or AWD now)

yes plus FWD are :q:q:q:qty when going downhill on a slick, icy, or snowy road :-D
