You drive a Mark VIII. Their cars usually can not match your car in performance, and they definately can't match your car for looks, comfort, or sheer class. Running off at the mouth is usually all that they can do. In my world, they usually come up with a myriad of excuses why they can't or won't run my Mark. Of course, when I insist on $100 per gear, or pinks, they put their tails between their legs and run for the nearest import shop for more go faster stickers.

Don't get me wrong, I respect anyone who can make any car faster, but louder, does not always mean faster. Also notice that the ones with the biggest mouths and the highest wings almost always have the slowest cars.

USUALLY THESE CARS HAVE THE SAME HORSEPOWER AS WHEN THEY STARTED AND THEY SPENT $7000 ON A $2000 CAR. IT USUALLY HAS MORE WOOFERS THAN HORSEPOWER. ITS A JOKE THEY PUT RACING SEATS IN THEM AND TV'S. I ALWAYS ASK THEM WHEN WAS THE LAST FRONT WHEEL DRIVE NASCAR. OR INDY CAR.. OR DRAG CAR...

I USUALLY PISS THEM OFF BY SAYING "HEY CAN THAT THING MOW MY LAWN TOO" IT SOUNDS LIKE A LAWN MOWER. HOW ABOUT HELPING THESE MORONS OUT BY TELLING THEM TO BUY A REAL CAR FIRST. THE PROBLEM ALL STARTED WHEN THE USA BIG THREE QUIT MAKING REAR WHEEL DRIVE CARS AND WENT TO FRONT DRIVE. CAMAROS, CORVETTES, MUSTANGS OR BIG BOATS WERE YOUR CHOICE, THEN CAME THE MARK 8. IT IS UNIQUE AND DOESN'T LOOK LIKE EVERY OTHER CAR ON THE ROAD, AND ITS GOT REAL POWER FROM THE FACTORY. HELL TODAYS SALEEN MUSTANG USES A 3V 4.6L IN IT WITH ONLY 310 HORSES AND ITS AT 6500RPM. THE MARK 8 IS A LEGEND AND MOST OF THESE RICE BURNER DRIVERS ARE EITHER JEALOUS OR JUST PLAIN IGNORANT. THIS IS HOW I PAY FOR ALL MY MODS BY SPANKING THEM LIKE A SUPERMODEL EVERY TIME I RACE. MY LAST VICTIM HAS $15000 IN MODS TO HIS CIVIC. I OUTWEIGHED HIM BY 1500 POUNDS AND HAD HIM BY 5-8 CAR LENGTHS BY 100MPH. Learned better a long time ago, if you want to go fast start with the fastest car you can afford and go to work on it and start by junking everything you don't need to make it run. Real fast cars usually look like a gutted pig not like some wanna be dressing up for the prom.

Ricer boys are scared of fast, they just want your attention. Kind of like street walkers on wheels.

I don't know what kind of sh!tbox fast cars you're looking at, but gutted cars driving around the street look like crap, ride even worse, and just plain suck.

If you make real power, you don't need to gut everything just to go fast.

Turbo Models, Upgraded turbo, Run NOS, Motor Upgrades -

Lincoln Mark VIII with Turbo or supercharger, Mark VIII with NOS, Mark VIII with Motor Upgrades--- With these modifications wouldn't a Mark VIII run Low 13's - 11's also....

I don't think anyone posting in this thread would argue that engine mods make cars faster... and if you in crease the force behind a very light car it will even go faster....

Our V-8's mover our 4,000lb beasts very nicely. And when you compare the Mark VIII to your basic ricer which is a no engine mod 4 banger with flashy lights, coffee can, Wal-Mart spinners, Autozone sticker ed, and Spoiler, toting around like they have a 10 second car.

That's what the beef is.

Not to mention the god awful paint jobs... I don't think this thread is a waist of time. It's a vent of frustration coming from people who remember real cars that had a lot of balls without using Turbos, or NOS. Plus I remember back back in HS if you had a piece of $hit to drive you didn't act like it was the fastest thing in the parking lot, but grateful you had something to drive around. But Warden you are most defiantly right to each their own!

I'm sure glad my own is a Mark VIII... A little remembrance of old American Muscle.... not that the Mark VIII compares with the muscle but it does let you know where it's roots are...

I somewhat agree. I obviously like the Mark VIII vs the ricers........I am driving one. I just recently sold a 500 hp+ 89 Mustang and have owned many early 70's cars. BUT, you can buy and install a supercharger or turbo set up, or heads, or crate engine on most of those ricers for 1/3 of the price of a Mark. And they weigh 2k less......to boot. I see them run at the strip here. And there are alot of them very fast. Like I said, some of them run low 13's out of the box. I respect fast cars..........I don't care who made them.

Not only that, they make "bolt on" assemblies" unlike the Marks, so the install time and irratation factor is greatly reduced, beyond the price is is cut by 1/3. You have no need to fabricate crap......you are using parts that are tried and true. And they weigh 2k less......to boot. I see them run at the strip here. And there are alot of them very fast. Like I said, some of them run low 13's out of the box. I respect fast cars..........I don't care who made them. And I personally can't justify 'building' my Mark VIII because I will quickly surpass in parts cost alone, what I could buy a Fox Mustang (or built ricer if so inclined) would cost me total, and already finished. And the Mustang (or ricer) would still be faster in the end anyways, and for a much lesser cost. I look at a tenth of a second per dollar....................but I am just a blue collar $60-70k a year guy. So when buildng a car, every dollar counts for me. If I had money to throw away............I may think differently. And that is just fact. I have built the cars, and I have priced the parts. Not a doubt in my mind. And I am a millwright/machinist, so there is alot I can do on my own.........which gives me maybe a slight advantage of being able to use the union job shop. Even then, it is not worth it. Too much of a price and time difference. So I build the cars that are popular to do so with. When I am sitting next to a new Corvette, I do not car if I am in a Mark VIII, a Mustang, or a Civic. I just care that I win..........most of the time. Namely 1/4 mile or stop light to stop light. And nothing better then beating a car this guy next to me just paid $50 or $60k or more for, then with a car I have $10-$15k total in. I just respect speed, but I also value time and money.
