I have a 2001 lincoln ls v8

ok my car will crank but is won't start... I have had it crank only two times since its had this hard start issue.
Ok I'm not getting any fuel to the engine (no fuel in the fuel rail when schrader valve is checked) can anyone help me with this

I do hear the fuel pump prime, i just changed the fuel filter but for sum reason i'm not getting any fuel to the engine...
is there a way to check for a clog or leak or anything?? can the fuel pump prime but still not get any fuel to engine????

any HELP is appreciated.

I would a fuel pressure gauge on it and try starting to see if your getting any pressure.. then I would take the fuel filter off and prime it and see if you have any gas coming out of the hose..

if you just changed the fuel filter - you may find it will take a whie of priming and cranking to get the fuel flowing through the new filter and up the dry line...

ok well i checked the fuel lines at the filter it and there was nothing that came out of the lines at the fuel filter not even a drop of fuel...so im guessing the fuel pump is the culprit right????

if you are hearing it prime - that's good sign that it's working...

yea thanks what i'm thinking too...man i hope its not an electrical problem

Most likely need a new pump.. to make sure, you could take the line off at the sending unit and prime then and see if you are getting any fuel there.. but that might still not be strong enough and there is no way to do the safely without getting fuel all over the interior..

fuel pump

My 01 just had the fuel pump replaced, it was dead. Car would crank but no fuel. removed back seat and took out pump, applied a 12v power supply to the pump and nothing, dead, soooooooo I ordered a new pump, put it in, cranked a few seconds and drove off. no problems.

ok great guys i'll do that....i think its the pump....hey tireman where did you purchase your fuel pump??

The one I bought is not an idiot-proof swap (not saying anyone is an idiot). Just that the 255lph is taller, and the white top lid to the pump housing had to be modified with a hacksaw/dremel combo for proper fitment. I knew I should've done a writeup, but it was getting dark, and I was in a hurry to get it finished while I could still see to replace that stupid retaining ring.

You can get the OEM rated replacement here:

I got the upgraded 255lph one:

fuel pump

fuel pumps.com or fuel pumps.net check prices, get the walpro oem replacement. it will come with everything you need. I freaked out when i saw it had a different electrical connector, but inside the box there was an adapter for it. worked perfectly, no muss no fuss.

Stumped

2001 Lincoln ls 3.9 replaced 3 new fuel pumps fuel pumps prime but still don't get any pressure at the rail when i turn car over with starter fluid it will run for 5 to 10 seconds then dies. changed fuel filter checked all fuses relays kill switch all seem fine when i turn key pump primes but does not create enough pressure to turn the car on. car has half a tank of fuel there doesn't seem to be any fuel leaks anywhere we ran scanner and got fuel pressure sensor low and system lean bank 2 . we replaced TPS sensor and Cleaned MAF sensor when i got in to data view it shows both sensors are getting signals i did notice that it said fuel system one OPEN ive always seen this one CLOSED on other cars this was in the view freeze data screen. we got told it might be the computer that we should get it reprogrammed thats what were gana do today.
