Whenever I am accellerating above about 5mph there is a noise that sounds like it is coming from the drivers side behind the steering wheel and intrument panel. The noise is sort of like a crispy sound almost like when you rustle tissue paper. It only happens when I accelerate smoothly and slowly, if i give it more gas and drive quicker the noise is gone....any ideas at all?

BEHIND the steering wheel?

It's you silly... rustling tissue paper

Someone is a little goofy tonight. Yeah behid the wheel and that instrument panel thats where it sounds like it is coming from.

again i have something similar, normally right after startup. i guessing it to be some sort of expansion. due to temperature difference/ change, or fluids flowing. of course that would explain why it changes when you accelerate harder, but then again maybe you couldnt hear it then. again hasnt caused any problems and it probably more trouble than its worth if it doesnt. someone else correct me please

in my car it happens from startup and continues as long as i drive whenever i accel.

hmmm... no idea! I assume you've crawled under there and tried to determine from what direction the sound is coming from?

yup i lay under the car and accelerate to see if i can locate the sound... for some reason the car always moves...?

naw no real spot that ive been able to figure its coming from

Just take the dash apart and put it back together. That worked to get rid of a lot of the squeaks in my truck. And it worked in my friends old Escort too.

think its gota do with drive by wire or sumthin cause its just on acceleration.
