October Zephyr sales exceed Ford's expectations

Happy to hear that, unless they set their expectations really really low.

How does the Zephyr compare to the 2006 Mazda SPeed6 by the way? The Mazda has a better engine, they both share the same platform, and the Speed 6 has AWD. Zephyr might have better interior build quality though?

Prices are comparable. Sounds like the Speed 6 is basically next year's version of the Zephyr.

The 2006 MAZDASPEED6 will start at $28,555 when it goes on sale this month. A top of the line Grand Touring will start at $30,485. The base MAZDASPEED6 will be designated as the Sport model and will feature a 274 horsepower turbocharged direct-injection 2.3-liter four-cylinder. This all-wheel drive sedan will be available with xenon headlights, leather-seats, eight-way power-adjustable driver seat, and heated front seats and side mirrors in the upgraded Grand Touring trim. Mazda is only expected to provide 5000 MAZDASPEED6s for the United States, so you better run down to your nearest MAZDASPEED dealer and place an order.

a tubrocharged 4-banger. hmm does not sound like a lincoln to me if they would of slapped that into the zepoli. but they should of defiantly gave it more HP. instead of a 221 HP they should of gave 321 HP.

An automatic transmission is not available with the Mazda and you can't get leather seats with the base model. The Mazda should have a firmer ride, a less expensive interior, and have less noise insulation. I see these cars as completely different -- sports sedan versus luxury sedan.
