I am not sure what this sound is, but I generally hear it only at the slower speeds (the end of my breaking period). It is a low bassy sound. Could be grinding of some sort.

I have fairly new pads on there. Not sure if it is the pads... could it be a cleaner for rims that has gotten onto the rotors? Could it be a brake-system issue (fluid?)?

Ideas welcome.

Mine will make a funny, low moaning sound after there's been some condensation outside. It's rust spots and after a few stops, the noise is gone.

I see the rust spots here and there.

But this sound, a low moaning as you said, is actually get more and more common. It is getting to be colder and a little more rain due to the season, but it is worrying me that I am going to lose braking power one of these days. Just not sure what's caused it.

+1, mines kind of like low moaning/grinding when i apply the brake to get out of my drive way, once i'm down the road at the 1st stop sign it seems to go away.

Lots of things make that sound when they break (sorry couldn't resist).

If you're having a brakeing problem that's somthing else. Are you sure the noise is from the brakes? Is it coming from the front or rear? You could have a sticking caliper piston, could be springs setteling, transmission noise, bearing problem, tire tread wear, could be bent heat shield, could be foriegn matter stuck between the pad and the rotor or maybe that body in the trunk is still alive. Sounds like you need to have a mechanic hear the noise to figure it out.

Allot of stuff makes a wierd sound, just before it breaks...my 2 cents...
