by cars being "Remote Start Ready" or RSR, this does not mean that the cars are pre wired for a remote start system to just be plugged in.
with how controled new cars are through the can system. a lot of new cars (GM and Chrysler are the biggest and easiest) actually control the engine starting process when you turn the key, a lot of chevy cars, you dont have to hold the key in the start position, you can just flick it forward and the cars computer cranks the engine for how ever long it needs (the car does not need to have OEM remote start, this is what allowed the factory to start offering it.) so DEI's (viper) new programmable remote start bypass also offers a RSR configuration for most cars that do this, so instead of installing a typical remote start, you can just wire in (or sometimes snap T harnesses in) a few small wires and then when this module read a certain code on the car system (usually seeing the lock command three times with in a set period of time) if will override the cars system and make it start itself.
the LSs PCM does not have this ability.
think of it as old school remote start systems are remote controlled computers that hot wire you car, RSR hacks in to the cars computer and takes control of it.
so cars aren't wired for RSR, Remote Start Ready is an aftermarket branding of a remote start option (thay still have to be soldered into the car (or T harnessed)
for anybody interested, there is al a RXT (Range eXtending Technology) for these cars, if you happy with your cars features like factory alarm and you have factory remote start (obviously not the LS) but don't like the range of the factory remotes, you can use this bypass and pretty much current viper brands remotes of you choice even mile range 2 way remotes), or Viper Smart Start (cell phone control) just to get better remotes.
you have a case of the old school remote start system (avatal is DEI, kinda like baby viper), but instead of having an antenna and remote, its external activation wire is hooked in to your cars lock wire, then just set to a number higher then what you would normally use under normal circumstances , its usually three since most ford owners like to hit the lock button twice so they can hear the horn and get confirmation that the car locked. this will also work nicely when remote starting the car you you can hear the horn honk twice.
